VS X2 Video faster than Audio

Post by mus »

Hi y'all,

Had VS installed with my HP DV7 3020EA I7 laptop.

Been trying to record some simple videos using the inbuilt webcam but every time the video plays back way faster than the audio.

I've played about with the Recording / Playback sample rates - they were both set to 48kHz and I've used combinations of 44.1 and 48 etc. but all to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks

M

Profile updated.

Corel videoStudio 12.0.106.1

Capture Source HP Webcam, Format DVD

Project properties (default):

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First

You say the video plays way faster than the audio, but yet you were adjusting the audio properties. So which plays correctly, audio or video?

Also, can you play the file from the webcam in something other than VideoStudio, such as Windows Media Player or its own software? If so, how does it play?

Thanks Black Lab.

The audio plays normally whichever sample rate I use.

This is also true in Windows Media Player and HP MediaSmart.

Ok. Does the webcam have its own software that captures? Is that what you used, or are you capturing directly from the webcam into VS?

I have two HP laptops with inbuilt cameras, and both certainly come with their own software. But IIRC, both film in a maximum of 640 x 480, and so quite some fiddling would be involved in converting this to DVD-standard mpeg-2 (720 x 480 for NTSC or 720 x 576 for PAL)... And as we know only too well, in the past there were quite a few problems, including out of sync audio and video, for users trying to do this...

Directly into VS as far as I know

I haven't found any other capture software on the machine

IIRC, the software is HP's Entertainment Center... though you could also type into either Vista or Windows 7 'web camera' and the necessary software should open...

OK, thanks I got it.

Not the greatest software in the world! Machine crashed on me when I accessed the settings - and there aren't a great deal of them either.

I managed to record to AVI using a very old version of Vegas Video 3 I have, but that's a lot of Gb for the quick Youtube stuff I want to do (singer songwriter clips).

I'm sure I did get VS to work last week by setting back to 44.1 kHz but can't seem to repeat the feat...

But is it in sync? That's the important part. Doesn't matter how small the clip might be if it doesn't work right.

Yes, I meant it was in sync. Would be nice to get it working with VS though...
