can't prevent auto repeat

Post by jbarchuk »

HiHi All!

I cannot prevent auto repeat at end of movie.

I don't think I had this problem with previous DVDs. If I didn't have a problem then I have no clue what I changed to cause this.

Under one project/VSP I use Share - Create Video File - MPEG - MPEG2 720x480. I don't see an other repeat type options there. And I see non under File Preferences of Project Properties.

Then another project/VSP file loads just that MPEG to create an ISO file.

Then Share - Create Disc - DVD. I have no menus. Previous DVDs I've done had no menus either so that shouldn't make a difference.

Under the jog wheel Project Settings I have auto repeat unchecked.

But when that is disabled the Clip Playback says *either* 'continue to play next clip (there are none) or 'back to menu' (there are none).

That -half- implies that *if* *both* of those two possibilities fail (next clip and back to menu) that it's *possible* it will revert to auto repeat even though it's unchecked.

Update: I noticed that for no apparent reason autorepeat was *ON* in Win Media player so I shut that off and it still repeats. Can't find a repeat option in RealPlayer but it repeats there too. I have nothing else handy to test this with.

Any clooz?

Thanks much. Have a :) day!

auto repeat

Post by Trevor Andrew »

Hi Jim

So if you have no menu then how does the video know when to play?
Well, It plays automatically when you insert the disc.

It will continue to play whilst the disc is loaded.
If it were to stop at the end, then how can we replay it, you have no menu, no link to press.

Auto Eject
I do not think there is an option to eject the disc at the end of the movie, so I think the disc will start to play again.

If you have previously created a disc without menus and the movie stopped at the end,
Then what version of Video Studio did you use and what version are you using now?

When I press the Play button.

Need to mention I don't have a DVD player I'm doing this all under XP. It was a customer mentioned the autorepeat thing. It's not a tragedy if I can't stop it but annoying.

Autostart and autorepeat are two different topics??

It should just sit there and be a happy quiet little player until I tell it to do something else? LOL!

I *hate* 'automatic' *anything*!! When it's done with (exactly) what I told it to do, (play the vid,) it should stop, do nothing, and keep on doing nothing until *I* decide what else it should do.

But that's just me. (sigh)
If you have previously created a disc without menus and the movie stopped at the end,
Well see this was someone told me this. I should have said as far as I *knew* there was no problem/oddity.

I guess I'll just have to use a menu. I was under the ASSUmption that with one vid on the disc, no other options, that the -player- would give conrol of operations to the -user-. I am clearly mistaken. :)

TYVM Have a :) say!

One thing you haven't told us is what version of VS you are using.

I think it was back in v10, I wanted to make a DVD that did auto repeat. It was going to be in an office lobby and would just play all day. Well, even when I set VS to Auto Repeat, it would not. We determined it to be a bug. Not a big deal as I could set the player to repeat. This could be a similar problem.

Tried also with WinDVD 5 which was set by default to not repeat and it did repeat so it's a render issue not a player issue.

Tnx. Have a :) day!
