Making DVD with Share

Post by juliart08 »

After editing with Video,Images and Titles and saving to file. I went to burn to DVD. Everything seemed right but when I played it back on a regular home player it did not have the titles. I reloaded the file and on the time-line the titles were there. I tried again with another DVD-RW and the Video and stills were there but no Titles again. There are so many settings when you burn. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to set the parameters before burning so I can use it on normal DV players.

First thing I would do is get rid of the re-writeable discs, I have tried with many different computers and several different DVD burners and in a nutshell they are a waste of money.

That's curious. I use them successfully all the time, both + and -RW -- though more recently I have come to prefer +RW Imation DVDs... While I usually burn and test standard def DVDs with a DVD folder first, I then test it further on an RW disc to see how it plays on a stand-alone DVD player. Apart from negative results in the far distant past with Shintaro RW discs (does Shintaro even still exist??? ), again I have had no problem with such discs with a probably equally wide variety of DVD burners on a number of computers...

And I have even used my Imation +RWs on a number of occasions to successfully test burn an AVCHD hybrid disc for playback on my PS3...

Michael,
Are you referring to Chapter titles, and if so are you naming them in the Editor?

This is yet another problem, that has been repeatedly brought to Corel's attention, yet they do nothing to correct it. You must do this in the burn module, when you are Creating/Adding Chapters. VS simply will not carry any Chapter names from the Editing module into the Burn module.

OK, All you have giving me some help. I will not use Office Depot DVD+RW's anymore but I would like to burn a video on a RW so I can see if it comes out OK. any suggestions on a brand of RW that would be good for this?

I was not talking about the Chapter titles. Even though I did try it but got nowhere. I was talking about the Normal Titles over the video. It was there in the timeline and when I played it back on my PC with XP it was there. When I burned it to a TDK DVD+R and then played it on a normal home unit (Panasonic,Memorex,Shinsonic) the video played with sound but no titles.

Does anyone know of another editing program that I could use? That is easier and better then VS 11? I have tried Pinnacle and it was worse then VS.

Pinnacle sent me an update that was supposed make things right! I installed the update and the program crashed every time I fired it up and I could never get it to work again.

Maybe I should go back to AB editing with 3 machines. I used Sony Beta and never had the problems I have had now. Even though I can do lots of effects with VS11 but what good is it if I can't burn it to a DV to show people.

Hi

When you have completed the editing you should create a video file of your project.

Share- Create Video file- using the default DVD template will create a single new Mpeg 2 file.

You can use your media players to play the file to check the content.

If the video is intact:-

Start a new project, Share Create Disc¡XAdd Media adding the new video file.
When you burn the DVD there will be no further rendering so your video file should be the same.

Sorry I gave you the wrong URL.

Here is the right one;

Check out the Video " My Art & Photography Work". I did this with VS 11 and I was very pleased with it. Since that one I have never been able to do that type of work again.

What I do is first burn to DVD Folder. I can then use a computer-based DVD player (PowerDVD) to play the view the disc (including the menu) and check for errors. If I find something wrong I go back to VS and edit, then re-burn to a DVD Folder. When everything is good I then burn to a disc.

Obviously this is not the place to talk about the competition. This is a Corel forum for talking about Corel products.

As I stated in my first reply, we no nothing about your project (i.e. file types, settings, etc.). Perhaps if you supply that info we could offer a better solution.

Hi juliart

We need to know the properties of the video file that you are using, The type of video Mpeg, Avi, Mov,
The type of camera, or are they downloaded from the internet, maybe a TV recording.

With the video in the timeline, right click and select Properties, what are they?

For project Properties,

Go to File Project Properties, the details in the lower panel can be copied and pasted to this forum.
