Technically the pipette in Smart Photo Fix isn't for checking values but for identifying Black, White, and Gray points to remove a color cast.

Color Balance, being as stripped down as it is, only works between warm and cool images so there's less of a need in the express lab for both functions to identify a special color. Would be nice to have, but not necessary so it's less of an annoyance for me.

As for the point on selecting images in the organizer, I'm afraid I don't experience that at all. The selection acts the exact same way in my Organizer as it does in Windows Explorer.

Open PSP X# (latest) and open Organizer. What do you see ??
-> You see the pics you edited last. BUT the folder tree view is collapsed ? Why it is collapsed and not also show open the folder that from the pics are shown ??

You open image in express lab. Smart fix shows the pipet on top of image (when mouseover/hoover the image)
-> You change to the Color Balance and there is NO PIPET for checking the color values !

You open image in express lab from organizer. Close the Elab.
Is the file you edited still selected so you see what image to edit next ? No ! Not any kind of coloured borders.
What if the folder has alot pics so that the scrollbar state should be saved? NO! the scrollbar is at the beginning always. Not where you left it.

Normal File Explorer:
You can select files with clicking and using CTRL + Shift to add range to your selection that IS NOT EMPTY
BUT it does not work in here. Of course not.
Try it your self: CTRL-Click 3 images. Now leave a couple between and click CTRL + image. Now select last one with CTRL+Shift. You have two ranges selected.
I am with you. I don't like too many photos open at one time. It would really be nice if when you closed the organizer it would return you to the last selected photo. This would help when editing sequential photos like Might Mite football games.
I sent an e-mail to Corel about this but they sent me back what amounts to a canned message: "Thank you for your e-mail. Please be advised that the Organizer Mode in PaintShop Pro X3 can no longer be opened simultaneously with the Full Editor Mode. Hence, when you switch back to Organizer, it will show you the list of images in the selected folder."

Doesn't look like they think it's an issue...

1. I think I'd use the pipette to search a point where the white should be white (not yellow/blue) So I could adjust the rgb to be in the grey area.
Any suggestions how to workaround-do this ?
(I usually shoot pics that color balance it totally wrong)
2. Try again:
Select 3 files in explorer (ctrl + click). Then leave 2 files between and select 4th file (with ctrl+click).
Now press shift+ctr and click last file of the folder. You have selected 2 areas of images.
3. Corel should send me a check for product development. [edit: Adding these features / fixes would be alot better] If you have over 10 pics selected in the org. and you clik "Full editor"
each of the pics will open. It would be nice to popup-confirm:"This might take long time, do you really want to open so many images ?"

No, I've seen that request a number of times on various forums and on Facebook.

1) Download to a folder named by the shoot date not the download date! I really do not care one ioda about what particular day I downloaded a photo. What is important is the date the photo was taken.

I have never really figured out the reasoning for download folder naming except for lazy programing. I have kept Zoombrowser around because it downloads to shoot date.

2) Editable histograms like DPP.

Please can you explain this request?
I also use DPP (for RAW) and ZoomBrowser (for its Organizer).

Yes I'm very curious about this editable histogram you're talking about. I haven't used DPP in a long time but the video I looked at seemed to suggest it had similar functionality to the "Histogram Adjustment" command under Adjust->Brightness & Contrast->Histogram Adjustment. If there is more to it than that I would be most interested to see what you're referring to.

You can pull the top of the hist. down, the bottom up and the sides in. Try pulling the right side over and watch your picture come alive.

Are you talking about the RAW tab or the RGB tab in DPP?

You can achieve the same result with PSP Histogram Adjustment
(under the Adjust -> Brightness & Contrast menu) or with
the Levels tool (same menu), which I use for almost every photo.

Please fix this horrible pixel-cut bug, that still exist in PSPX3, PSP3 Ultimate, even after patching with the newest patch [ver. 3].

Whole bug is mentioned here:

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... ste+script

But please fix it in PSPX3 patch ver4, this is horrible, that users have to tweak this fundamental feature using scripts!, and main
feature like selecting and deselecting part of image is cutting few bottom pixels, does it even passed all tests in the beta?

Cheers.

Probably too late now but make that horrible gray screen an option in X4, that is if you feel you would lose too much face by scrapping it and going back to having a plain white screen instead.
I have used PSP 9.02 (on free mini CD with a Lexar CF card) with Photoshop plugins for years but now I need Adobe RGB (1998) colour so I have upgraded to X2. Some programmer must have spent ages coding that horrible screen - he/she should not have bothered or been stopped.
Trouble is I cannot do without Adjust Histogram and my Photoshop plugins so I seem to be stuck with PSPP. ( I have Photoshop CS2 from way back. I don't use it often enough to keep in practice and only use it for raw 16 bit colour and I hate the guesswork involved in Curves which rules out Elements)

I would like to have a posiblity to translate PSP X4 to another lang. For example to Czech. Now it can be done only translating STRINGS directly in plenty of DLLs in one of unused lang for example Polish. But it will be more easy if Corel can load translation from XML.

Crop Tool

Please could we return to original crop tool control, by allowing the user to resize the crop area by holding onto any part of the crop rectangle, and not just the 'handles'.

As a photographer I quite often require to crop my images accurately. This involves dragging the crop rectangle to the rough size I want over the selected image. I then zoom in so I can set the rectangle accurately over certain image details... quite often at pixel level. When I'm zoomed in, I can't always be at a zoom level where a crop rectangle handle is visible. I therefore have to zoom out until one is visble, and I can make a size adjustment be dragging the relevant side. BUT, because I've had to zoom out (to see the handle) I can't see enough image detail to size it accurately.

It's become so unuseable, that I've had to revert to PSP9, which works perfectly... I can be working at pixel level, and as long as I can see an edge of the crop rectangle, I can drag it at that zoom level and align it where I want.

I daresay someone wanted the new vector style crop tool functionality, but in reality it's not nearly as useable or intuitive as the old PSP9 style. I have been a PSP 'power' user for many years, and this one issue has been the biggest 'update' blunder in all that time.

Please correct this by adding a tick box to the Crop Tool menu bar (or preferences option) to give the user the option to switch to the previous resizing method.

Many thanks.

Rgds.

I continually find myself alternating between 9 and 12 for cropping. 9 allows me to position and size the crop per pixel, 12 allows me to rotate the crop but only allows me to size the crop.
My dream would be 9.02 with Adjust Histogram (Curves without the guesswork) for 16 bit Adobe RGB (1998) colour; I would even pay extra for it!
