Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
- PSP x3 text tool would be better if you could see the actual text changes without having to highlight it first, make the change and then take the highlight off so you can see it. Highlighting makes it difficult to see. Also, you can not change to different fonts by using the down arrow. Have to highlight, go up to the drop down box every time to select the next font, take highlight off just to see it better. Using the down arrow to change font does not work the way it used to.
- Program slows down way too much as you add items to the "textures, patterns, tubes, gradients etc. ....can take a very long time just to get the materials dialogue open to select a pattern etc.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I'm a script writer for scrapbooking designers. I make all my scripts in Psp 9. The people who test for me continually have this problem: It indiscriminately cuts pieces off of layers. One of my testers also writes scripts and she's noticed that if she uses Merge Visible instead of Merge down, the problem doesn't occur. It seems to be a bug in the software. When I'm working on a script, I sometimes have a lot of layers, and hiding layers to use Merge Visible just isn't viable as it would take too much time.
I've contacted support about this several times, without any fix or answer - I keep getting sent to different people!
Can something be done about this? I'd love to purchase X3, but there is no way that I am going to buy it unless this bug is fixed.
Here's a link to an image from one of my testers - I've circled the places that have been cut off http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll38 ... d/x3-1.png
Thanks,
Joanne

Re: My pleas...
I fully agree with BarneyL's desire to have the organizer back on the 'Full Lab' page as in PSP X2. The entire reason I joined this forum is to be able to make this suggestion to Corel. The current layout in X3 just wastes my time - which is very valuable (as it is to everyone!). I spent three days uising Corel's on-line support to discover that X3 is unable to have the organizer on the same screen as the Full Lab. I am back to using X2 - so why did I bother to upgrade to X3. I feel I was lied to. I am also going to take my valuable time to warn others (ex. on Amazon, Newegg, etc. customer reviews) off X3 until this problem is fixed.BarneyL wrote:Top two PLEASE PLEASE return two X2 features to X3!
-Making the organizer a PALETTE option in the full editor, so I can have it at bottom of my screen and still do my work as I do on my other (home) PC where I have X2
-Returning the 'search field' to the organizer, in the header, rather than in a separate pop-up box. It's SO easy to start typing a word for a photo search and have them pop-up. Sometimes a mistype can bring lag time, but for the most part it's a real time saver.
But esp. item 1 - I have convinced work to let me use (and for them to pay for) PSP, because I've used it for a decade-plus and love it. But as usual, no upgrade lacks a 'gotcha,' and the total separation of the organizer and editor is one for me. Please??
Any other suggestions where we can post our concern to get Corel to listen?
Thanks so much for participating and maintaining this great resource for Corel users!

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
Please fix the uninstaller so that it can be called an "UN" installer and does just what an uninstaller does.. Then ask why so many NEED an uninstaller? Could it be those pesky hangups whan the program is loading?????

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I am a long time PSP user. I now specialise in scripts mostly aimed at digital scrapbooking customers. Here are some improvements i would suggest along this line (staying away from photography use here)
- Text within a shape. PSP has always had text along a path, but to place text INSIDE a shape (be it something simple like a triangle or a circle or something fancier, it is a pain to do manually). Right now, the only way i know, beside the tedious manual adjustment, is a script i coded called Text Wrapping (http://creationcassel.com/store/index.p ... cts_id=162). I am sure PSP users would love to have that option at their fingertip for scrapbooking or other graphic use.
- Warping tools. The warp mesh is good enough but sometimes, we would love to curve something more than what is allowed with that tool. The puppet warp from Adobe is exactly the kind of tool that would allow such flexibility. With the current warping tools, there is no way to "bend" anything (be it a ribbon, electical wires, etc.
- reflection tools. Currently, there is a mirror and flip feature, and a rotating mirror one. One other option would be to have reflection possible from different angles. The Rotating mirror is not very accurate i find and does not create a real mirror effect (maybe someone has other suggestions as to how to manage that)
- copyrights and credits being important in some areas of graphic work, i think it would be great if the copy and paste from one image to another could be made possible as a drag and drop (between two images) allowing also the original filename to be dragged an dropped as the new layer name. This would be a great asset,i think.
- last (for now) is something that is terribly missing EVERYWHERE: a function to convert raster to vector. I am often asked if i can code a script for that, and obviously i can't but i think that it would be HUGE advantage if PSP could do this. At this point, i know of only ONE program that can do it AND save it in a format useable by PSP, and it is Algolab. If PSP could do that you would get yourself a ton of new users since it is often demanded and rarely found anywhere.
- of course, if PSP could read and use Adobe`s files (like actions, brushes, styles, and such) it would be great as a lot of side products are available, just not useable by PSP users.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I agree with a lot of things posted in this thread, but the most important to me is program efficiency. My system is a C2D Quad 3 gHz with 8 gigs of RAM, so while not the latest it's still quite fast. I'm not a graphics professional but I have been working with software for over 20 years and X3 clearly demonstrates code inefficiency. Even simple operations like contrast and brightness have to be calculated rather than be executed in real time. Some other operations require that the cursor be released before the image is updated leading to an inefficient workflow.
So my number one request above all else is that PSP be given a serious cleanup aiming for efficiency and speed. If non-commercial freeware can do this, why can't PSP?

I have read somewhere:

(in)PSP X4(I hope, Jan/2010) - inteligent search for edge in Straighten Tool can take an advanced extension, but for now I am realy missing it in X3.
I have worked on few hundreds scanneed papers and used - Straighten Tool for slightly correction of pages, it must be done at edge of text block or an enge of image on page. You must first zoom page with mouse and so on... It is very borring after few hours! So it will be an evolution of - Straighten Tool, if it can automaticaly search for edge. COREL come on!!

And what about Inkscape capabilities to convert raster to vector, I think it is quite useful.

Are the resulting vectors useable in PSP? If so, i was not aware. And what about Inkscape capabilities to convert raster to vector, I think it is quite useful.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
Make it work better when using PSP tubes. I'm PSP user from the very early days going back to PSP 5. I have upgraded through the years with 7 and 10 my favorite. With PSP X2 and 3 I continue to have cache loading problems with psp tubes. I use tubes very often as they are great for working with logo images I make to resize without losing quality. But this cache problem with the tubes is very frustrating and makes me want to go back to using PSP 7

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I would have to agree with bccfan. The Quick Selection tool is the main reason why I continue to purchase Elements. While the selection tools in Paint Shop Pro are very good, they all have an "outside-in" logic that works well for selecting such things as hair and smoke. The "inside-out" logic of the Quick Selection tool is a huge time saver, particularly with the Auto-enhance option turned on. In other ways, Paint Shop Pro X3 is an excellent tool, and I have to believe that the programmers who programmed the rest of the interface would find a Quick Selection tool to be well within their grasp -- probably improving on it from the Adobe version. Go Corel!!

I works. I draw simple lines and bezier and saved as test.WMF, then opened in PSP X2 and can edit them. But be aware that I tried only very simple drawing and colors was white-black. So in principle it is posible to edit vectors in Inkscape and use them in PSP X2(X3).Cassel wrote:Are the resulting vectors useable in PSP? EDIT: I created simple image with transparent background in PSP X2 and draw some lines and beziers, then saved as test.EMF and opened in Inkscape 0.48 and simply edited. Works fine! So it works bi-directionaly. From Inkscape to PSP and from PSP to Inkscape.

I would like to have horizontal and Vertical Guides in the Print Layout section so when I make templates, I can get them to line up.

It is possible to *add* to installation a choice to install only *one* selected language (for ex. English) OR all ? I think that many users use *only* one lang all the time.
It will bring installation disk space allmost to half. And frequent defragmentation of system disk will be faster too... Thank you.

It would be nice to add a numerical input boxes for entering exact value (like: 39) in Layer Properties dialog -> Layer Style. Currently there are only sliders. And for precise settings I have to record this operation as script and then manualy edit them and then choose it in this dialog for use. ...and it is slow.
