Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I would like to select multiple layers in the layer's palette. Have the last layer selected be the active layer, but allow the move tool and the group layers option and the link layers option to affect these multiple layers. Would make handling layers a lot easier. Right now it's tedious to first have to select each layer individually link them, and the move them with the move tool. With multiple layer select we could use standard selection options like Shift-click to select all layers between previously selected layer and the newly selected one. And CTRL-click to select individual layers. Would be so much better, don't you think?
Oh, the Pick tool doesn't move vectors with the arrow keys easily like the help files say it should. If I want to move vectors I have to hit the "O" shortcut key to get the object selector tool. Then I can nudge the vectors into place....well...technically any vector tool will work. But it has to be a vector tool or else I can't nudge my vectors and I don't know why.

There are also two items with D as the designated shortcut - Depth of Field and Barrel Distortion Correction.jegs1 wrote:There is STILL after multiple versions a glitch in the shortcut structure to Sharpen. The Adjust menu has 2 items with S as the designated shortcut. This is ridiculous since I reported this glitch several versions ago.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
Swatch pages.
For the first time in my life I'm getting into the art/vector side of things on Paint Shop Pro. And I've really enjoyed the use of swatches. Admittedly I could have just put a palette layer on my image for me to grab colors from but the swatches really made things simple for me.
But the more characters I make, the more swatches I add, and the more cluttered my swatch list is. The sorting and viewing options are nice but I would like just an extra layer of organization, similar to that of the mixer palette. A swatch page. The ability to create a special page/group of swatches that I can view when working on a specific image. It would decrease the amount of clutter that I would need to sort through just to pick the proper color for a project.

Here's my wish -- Sell the program back to Jasc! You've made it worse with each "upgrade" since Corel has had it.

I think you're over-reacting. And Jasc no longer exists. Corel bought Jasc not just Paint Shop Pro.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
Its simple, Blending tools. Ive used Paint shop pro since version 7 and everyone in between it STILL has a lousy blender. A smudge brush is not a blending tool. There is no good reason to not have a real blender tool in PSP after all theses years. So unless something happens where Coral ads a real blending tool, I'm finished upgrading,Ive waited long enough. And no I'm not going to spend over 300 bucks for a drawing program. Ive found one good program that has an outstanding blending tools, Twisted Brush but its not very user friendly and the UI stinks.

It would also be nice to have a program that doesn't keep crashing

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
All suggestions would be nice. Especially the Panorama tool, I use panasonic panorama maker 4 and find it very easy and reliably good but it takes a long time. The one thing I'd like that hasn't been mentioned is a quick selection tool like on Elements 8, which is a bit like a magic wand tool that actually selects what you want and is easily adjustable if it doesn't. After trying out Elements after getting sick of PSP X3 crashing (fixed now) every time I used the make over tool (mother in law) that selection tool is the only reason I have kept it!

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
After upgrading to Paint Shop Pro X3 I noticed some "standard" features that were no longer there.
1. I can not longer simply drag-and-drop a JPG from ThumbsPlus onto an open PSP X3 window as I did with all previous versions of PSP. I'm pretty sure I can't drag-and-drop any file from any application into PSP X3. Is that a setting I'm missing?
2. When I open a JPG, it always goes to 100% magnification, and not fit to screen as all other versions of PSP. Is that a setting I'm missing?
3. If I select several JPG files in Windows Explorer and press Enter, it will instanciate PSP X3 that many times, and not just open more windows.
4. This relates to item 3 as extra annoying - I must run PSP in Administator mode (a security risk) if I'm going to use some of my 3rd party plug-ins or some of them won't work correctly. I'm pretty sure I didn't need to do that in Windows 7 and PSP X2.
All of the above are just annoyances that make using PSP X3 unpleasant. They do not prevent it from otherwise working reliably. I have not encountered any undue crashes or instability. I was annoyed the other day when working with some dozens of JPG files from my 7.5 MP camera, which is not large by modern standards - I ran out of memory. It didn't crash, but told me to back off. Again, stable, but annoying.
Terminating rant mode . . . .
Bye.

I would like to see better RAW Lab layout. For example, move all the tools either to the right or left of the window, and give the image much more space.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
First of all, I'm a novice-intermediate so don't beat me up for my comments below.
I would like to see some partnerships in the form of a coupon code, or other similar method, with hardware vendors such as Wacom or Datacolor. I think that having more partnerships like these for tables and color calibrators for monitors and printers are important for a professional piece of software.
I also think that there should be a stronger separation between consumer image editors and PaintShop Pro. I view PSP as a professional software package though it appears to be leaning towards novice users. I would pay a reasonable amount more for the software if it were to incorporate and refine more professional level tools for work flow, batch processing, professional printing, etc. In my area, PSP is viewed as a consumer type product that is 2nd rate. If you mention the word Adobe, the first thing that pops in your head is professional printing. This affects the the people that use this software in their profession. You never want to use a product that your clients won't put their trust in and in the imaging profession, Adobe is the name that everyone knows. I sorry for rambling on this topic, but I think that Corel Marketing should find a way to get some additional face time and publicity with professional photographers to show the world how they use the product, and to get additional feedback on how to improve the products. This will lead to better products for us as the popularity grows. Please leave the project creator for the consumer products.
I would like to see CUDA utilized to speed up some of the tasks in PSP. Utilizing GPU technology is a growing area and Corel could enhance their market penetration should they jump into this market. Please document what is CUDA enabled and what is not.
Last, having bundled software that is worth while would be good. I can see bundling Draw, Video Studio, DVD Movie Factory, Painter, and PSP into a suite, but it needs to be done logically. Does it make sense to have PSP and Corel Photo Paint in the same bundle? No, it does not. There are many overlaps in software under the Corel umbrella. It would be wise to pick the best of each type of software, stick with it, and provide a meaningful bundle. Not trying to upset anyone, but why is photopaint even around anymore? PSP should have replaced it when it was purchased. Put the best of both products together, quit dividing your resources supporting different programs that do the same thing, and produce one awesome piece of software, and move forward. The bundles should also take advantage of easily sending data between each other and having common interface types and tool bars.
I would also like world peace, the IRS to quit taxing me so much, and a beer.
Thank you!

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I wish that PSP X3 did NOT load up all my images before I can open anything. It seems to want to recreate a thumbnail database before I can do anything which just wastes my time.
Just open and let me either pick a directory or open a file. I have a need for speed!

Re: Paint Shop Pro X3 Wish List for Future Version
I found that using version 4 icm printer profiles in proof mode causes problems in tool color displays and histogram displays. This should be corrected. It does work with version 2 profiles.
Monitor profiles are OK with version 2.
