When I drag the multi trimmed clip from timeline as different video segments to video library, i want to name them differently, but i don't see a rename option there. this will be very useful when you are cutting a long clip in to short segments and move them around

Compile and Optimize VideStudio for x64 Windows (64-bits) to use RAM above the 2GB restriction.

A Corel Support page states the following:
For 64-bit operating systems it may be worth adding more RAM for Windows to use, as they can make use of up to 8Gb of RAM. VideoStudio Pro X2, however, can only use 2Gb of RAM no matter which Operating System you use.

You can do that in Settings>Preferences>Working Folder or Capture Tab>Capture Video>Capture Folder.

I feel Video Studio X3 is Video Studio 11 with a new skin and some fancy new gimmicks.

I would like to see new 51% more features for the prosumer and a licence agreement that doesn't force the consumer to install updates on demand.
The ability to render special effects would be nice.

I am a huge fan of 70's & 80's sci-fi (Doctor Who, Blakes 7) etc and I see allot of cool simple effects (in todays standards) that I can't do in modern low-end consumer video editors.
I'm also a fan of 90's music videos and see allot of video effects in them that I could not dream of doing in VideoStudio.

Welcome to the forums!

It would be useful if you could describe some of these special effects you are after. It is not particularly helpful to say say the program should have them without saying what they are. And apart from that, it could be that they are possible... Some of our users are very clever! :?

Replace "Video Studio X3 is Video Studio 11" with just about any other software and you will be describing their upgrades too.

FWIW, I have been a user since around v6. I did not upgrade from v10 to v11 because I did not think the "upgrades" warrented the price. However, I did upgrade to X2, and now to X3, and am very happy with the features they have added.

Handles (Point indicators) at both ends of a clip. Meaning sometimes you want a clips position to be referenced from the end point of the clip vs just being able to align the start of the clip.

I don't remember if it was in versions 6, 7, ...10 or 11, but the clip handles were at both ends (That line that goes from the start of the clip up to the timeline when a clip is selected or moved). Anyway, being able to place a clips ending to the begining of a different clip using the handles was a snap (Literlely snapped). I would use the end point in the second track or overlay.

There are work-a-rounds, but having both start and end handles (Like the uprights of a field goal) sure made posistioning a breeze.

I'm not sure I understand. Video clips already snap to the end of the preceding video, or if you select and move it to an earlier position in the main timeline, it snaps to the start of the clip that now follows it. The main timeline does not allow empty spaces.

If you are talking about photos or colour panels, then there is a grab handle at both ends, though in the main timeline, only the end handle will work. Both handles work when the photo or colour panel is in an overlay track.

Not quite. I want to be able to specify the location of my library directories (images, MP3s) so I can browse my global assets from within VS. In addition, I wish to have an assets directory within the project folder in which VS automatically stores project-specific titles, images, music, etc.

Like this ...

I want the video in track #2 (Third line) to end at the begining of the overlay track (Second line) video clip called "SS-School". The only snap line is the vertical line at the start of the video clip, but not at the end

Image

I could zoom way in and move track 2 one frame at a time to line it up, but earlier version of VS had those vertical lines at both ends of the video clip being moved, allowing quicker alignment.

Basic special effects; such as:

-Using the negative filter on a specific part of a frame instead of the entire frame and being able to apply it to a moving object.
-Using the transition feature and applying it to a specific part of a frame on a moving object.
Making an object move accross a sky line in a video, such as (0:00 Point [A]) (0:17 Point ) (1:00 Point [C]). (A) [UFObankleft.PNG] (B) [UFOlevel.PNG] (C) [UFObankright.PNG]
-Being able to apply basic 70's special effects such as laser beams.. Everyone loves lasers.
-Being able to manipulate videos with effects like the ones found in Photoshop, but being able to apply them in motion, such as using a twirl effect, and being able to apply it to a certain part of the video, use it on a moving object in the video.
-Being able to overlay a video with something, such as (bonoculars.PNG). The image being the field of view that of when you look through binoculars with the alpha channel being transparent.

If modern video software can't apply 40 year old special effects it makes one scratch their head.

So Corel's should use the oppurtunity to stand out from the crowd and impliment 101% (majority new) or more functionality to the product instead of offering a rip off to upgrade customers with a few fancy gimmicks and a new skin. Rubbish like gimmick upgrades leads to customers going to another vendor's product.

Corel should also stop spinning the same crap each time they release a product:

X3: 'Hardware acceleration for Intel® Core™i7, NVIDIA® CUDA™ and AMD'

I heard "Enjoy optimized encoding for multi-core processors" with 11.5 Plus, yet mines only using one core.

X3: 'Launcher – quick access to express or advanced editing modes'
So they've created a new menu. Woopdie doo.

X3: 'Express Edit mode – make movies in minutes!'
It skips giving you settings options for your video. Waw.

X3: 'Upload directly to Vimeo®, Facebook®, YouTube™ and Flickr® in standard or HD'
I can do this by logging in to these websites from my web browser.

Corel should impliment usefull functionality updates for video manipulation instead of spinning the same old style of rubbish every time they release a 'new' product.

Modern software, yes. $100 software, I don't know of any that will do all those effects.

Ability to add filters to titles
Ability to copy all attributes to other clips
Ability to copy/paste clips to the timeline
Ability to replace clips in the timeline
New NewBlu FX, including a PiP filter that mimicks moving paths

If you consider these new features rubbish then I suggest you may want to move to $500+ software that will do what you want. :?

Being greedy and adding functionality by 'what the products worth' is a dangerous way of marketting. VideoStudio has a very small share of the market. Any less and retails may stop carrying the product. Corel cannot afford to play ball like this.
Its also limiting for the advancement of mankind to limit technology over money.

The ability to copy attribute to other clips and into the timeline does not add any advancements in video manipulation.
Adding a couple of new video filters and an ability to add a filter to a title is hardly going to constitue buying an upgrade.

X3 shares a 9x%+ commonality video manipulation abilities with years older generation versions of VideoStudio and hardly constitues and upgrade unless being a Corel fanboy. Highly dissapointing. Hopefully Corel will listen to my recommendation.
