Al , this is great ! It works ! Many thanks and all the best for 2011 !
I will still leave it in the WISH LIST as it could be added by the Corel developers to the Insert Media drop-down box for more convenience for their users

The Batch Converter saving options.
I have been converting a lot of .mov files lately from my Nikon S6000.
It would be nice if it could select to save an icon (for the converted file) into the custom folders as well, instead of just the default Video Library.
See below.

One of my many wishes:
Make it possible to change the playback speed and other options in project mode instead of having to change the speed one clip at a time which takes all day long.

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
If you want to change the speed of the entire project, start a new project and insert the vsp of the project you want to change. That "nested" project is then considered one whole clip, and the playback speed can then be altered.rkstudio wrote:One of my many wishes:

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
Hi guys,
My wish for the next version of Video Studio is support for the ATI Stream video accelerator feature in newer Radeon video cards. It is something like the Nvidia Cuda technology that VS X3 currently supports. This would make the program more attactive to those of us who prefer the ATI video cards.
How about it Corel?? Maybe even add it into X3 as a service pack?

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
I'm new to the software, but I've searched for these capabilities in the manual and on the forum and they don't seem to exist in the software:
1. Add a 2 to 4 memo/note fields (each about 250 characters long) to the clip properties screen that a user can use to store information in for things like clip content, clip problems, Charcters, Locations, etc.
2. Add the ability to export clip properties (and the above mentioned note field)to MS Excel, MS WOrd, MS Access, or a CSV file. (Give me a CSV and I can figure out the rest...)
3. Allow import of the memo/Notes for clips from MS Excel or a CSV file.
4. Allow the clilp preview screen to be moved to a second monitor like you currently can the single clip trim screen.
5. Allow multip clip preview or single clip trim screens to be open at the same time on a second monitor.
6. Allow playback speed adjustment on single clip trim screen and clip preview screen.
I believe adding these features would significantly increase a users ability to organize and edit easily.
If any of these capabilities exist pleas let me know. I was using a competitive package but I've found this package to be much more intuitive to use and fuller featured.
Thanks, Bobw

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
Don't waste time and horsepower renaming and converting files that already exist in .mov format to a different directory with a different file name still in the .mov format.
Why does it have to copy and rename a file like "I:\VSPRO Work\HVT CLIPS\1-3 Merged.mov" during import to a completely new location and name the file "C:\Users\Bobw10\Videos\2011-01-11\090226_225436_import.mov"??
It did this on 105 .MOV files I imported. In the process it lost all the original file names.
If it has to run the files through a "reformat" for QC purposes at least keep the original file name, or put it in the properties list.

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
Do you really mean 1080p or 1080i? I ask since I did not think VS could even handle true 1080p at all, let alone roughly or smoothly. The p of course stands for progressive, and this means that it has been filmed using 50 (PAL) or 60 (NTSC) *full* frames per second, rather than the half frames used in 'i' for interleaved video, with 50/60 half frames per second. The latter are thus more correctly rated at 25/30 full frames per second. It has only been quite recently that some camcorders have appeared that film in true 1080p mode, and X3 cannot handle them correctly. As it can only see 25/30 full frames per second, it in effect ignores every second frame from such a camera, thus producing a noticeably jerky effect. I have asked Corel when they might produce a program or update which can play and edit 1080p properly, but they have been unable to give me any timeline.
I also assume you are talking about AVCHD 1080, as opposed to HDV 1080. The latter edits both easily and smoothly on most computers. AVCHD on the other hand is notorious for being resource-hungry, and you have to have a fairly powerful computer to play it smoothly. And even then, I acknowledge that it will often play jerkily in X2 or X3, particularly in Project mode. In a sense, though, this is explicable by the fact that VS is being expected to do a quick approximation of a render of the whole project, and with AVCHD this is often a step too far for computer resources.
All that being said, I endorse the view that it would be great if Video Studio could handle both true 1080p, and that its editing playback of AVCHD should be much smoother.

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
I think we need the option to save a customized transition. This could be done by saving it to the My Favorites folder, or adding a Custom folder/library for the transition effects. Once the transition has been customized, an add button could add it to the proper folder for later use. Then the menu option of Apply current effect to video track, could be used to apply your customized transition to the remainder of the video track.
For several versions now, when you right-click on a transition applied to the video track, the Copy command is grayed-out, so not accessible. Don't know why this is, but I think that this should also be corrected.

1. You can, however they don't stick. You need to do this in the DVD authoring program.
2. You can, just don't use a template at the Create video file step. Choose Custom, then press the Options button, go to the Compression tab, down to the Audio and change if from LPCM to Dolby.

Re: Video Studio X3 Wish List for Future Versions
I really mean 1080p. I bought the VSX3 because it claims it can do true HD editing. "VideoStudio Pro X3—HD video-editing software for serious movie making fun" "Complete HD workflow – import, edit, burn and share standard or HD video"Ken Berry wrote:Do you really mean 1080p or 1080i?
"GPU acceleration – edit and render twice as fast, especially with HD video"
I have a contourHD 1080p helmet camera ( http://store.contour.com/contourhd-1080p-p7.aspx ) I record in the Full HD – 1080p 1920x1080 pixels 30fps. My computer is fully capable of handling HD video editing. It appears the program can not, even though all the claims in their advertising say they can.
Blu ray disks are able to hold 1080p HD content and the VSX3 advertises "Blu-ray authoring & burning – author with Hollywood-style DVD menus" Am I missing something?
Frustrated
