Anyone finding Bugs in X3?

Post by pdxrjt »

I think I have found 2 bugs in X3. 1) It does not select all of my tagged photos when I pick a tag. If I go into a folder, open a tagged photo that wasn't selected and then re-pick the tag.... the photo shows up. For example: I have a friend--Sandy, I click the Sandy tag...about 8 photos show up? Hmmm, I have many more. I went to a folder opened up 2-3 photos of her and they were tagged Sandy. I went back to the Sandy tag and hit it and Voila, the newly opened photos of her showed up, but not others. So, I think that's a bug. 2) A number of photos taken in portrait mode are showing up in landscape mode....not all, but about 1/3 in two particular folders. When I open the folders and look at the pics via thumbs or open them in Windows pic viewer, they are in the proper position.

Anyone else catching anything?

I have had an odd problem with the text tool.

Was very excited with the on canvas text editing. But last night I only managed to access the tool without crashing once out of ten tries.

And I impulsively bought it (as I do with all things I'm excited about) so I hope this isn't a bug with their software and that it's something I'm doing wrong.

I have also noticed that twice there was no layer selected and I was still able to change the blend mode...which was odd. I could be mistaken. I don't want to say it is this way. Because I don't see how it could be...but if anyone else notices it then it is odd. If not then I'm an idiot and need to pay more attention to what I'm doing. :P Haha.

KPT Plug-ins Missing

Post by cperkins »

Has anyone had any issues getting the KPT Plug-ins to work?

My KPT plug-ins never showed up after install.

I contacted support and they said

"Kindly be informed that the KPT Plugin is currently not available in the initial installation of PaintShop Photo Pro X3. Corel will soon going to release a special installer of this program which users can get only thru the retail version of PaintShop Photo Pro X3, by selecting 'Check for the updates' option in Help menu. We will keep you posted for any developments regarding this issue or please regularly check this in your program for updates."

Anyone else have this issue? :?

Sadly I don't have KPT but I have noticed that the 2D Hyperclouds plugin is not crashing PSP anymore. Odd. Could just be a fluke, happened every now and again before.

EDIT: Nope it works continuously. There must be enough changes to the plugin support some updates to KPT is required. Check the file locations to see if KPT is still included in the folders being looked at for plugins.

But this is awesome, I finally have a form of Render Clouds that work in Paint Shop Pro with this plugin. Woot!

Is X3 Help Only Online?

Post by Byron »

I've been using PSP for a while now, since Version 4 back in '97. However I still consider myself a novice, especially since recently upgrading from 7 to X3. As such, I find Help invaluable and would be very disappointed if it is only available online (as suggested in the "Paint Shop Pro Photo X3 Released" thread): I'd probably hang on to X2 for a real long time before upgrading again, or at least until I have an always-on (broadband) connection.

While this really isn't a bug I thought it was better to ask it here than start a new topic.:)

I don't see a pdf manual in the program folders. Except when one opens the learning center the actual "help" files do appear to be online.

You say the actual help files appears to be online. Will you (or anyone else) definitively say there isn't a local Help facility, one that doesn't require online access?

Until recently, when I upgraded from Win95a to Vista SP1, I hadn't purchased any software in a long, long time. Since then I've noticed a couple instances where help is only available online. Is this approach becoming more common to reduce overhead?

Well it does load in the browser only. However I can say for sure that the help files, right now anyway, are online only.

http://product.corel.com/help/photopro/ ... 7F&single=

When my internet is slow it won't access the information properly.

Turning off my connection and it won't connect.

The help files are on-line only for PSPP X3 and VS Pro X3.

If you wanted to you could spend the time downloading them. I doubt very much anything will change extensively for a time.

I don't know how or wish ones, as I've never used the feature, but some browsers allow you to designate certain pages and sites for offline viewing and it'll go through and download everything for you.

The downside to that would be no search feature. That and the time it would take to get all of the help files.

This is geared more toward those that use VS.... having the only help files available on-line is not good. Editing video is very, very demanding on PCs, so it has been a standard practice and suggestion by many of us veterans of the web board, not have your PC connected to the internet while using the program. In fact several of us, have dedicated machines that do not connect, do not have any programs such as internet browsers, anti-virus, anti-spyware, installed. The help file is of no help.

I think this was a big mistake by Corel.

Agreed, the downsides outweigh any benefit for me. To be honest the main reason for upgrading to X3 was to edit text directly on the canvas. But I've lost interest in the upgrade because of this Help file issue, not withstanding the text editing problems you mentioned in an earlier post.

Possibly waiting for an update would probably be good. But I'm no longer experiencing the text problem. It's odd. Don't know if it was a fluke or an actual problem. But we'll have to see through more testing.
