Fustration!!Will Ulead give me money back for wasted discs??

Post by lakewud »

..hmmm thought not!

Burnt a fair few projects via VS 10+...usually with positive results. However...

Finished another project - 1hr 7min ( others which burn fine were longer btw ). To cut to the chase...

Every time i burn a copy...the play back menu appears jittery..and worst of all...the last 5min of the disc is out of sync!!!! why why why.

Why..when in the preview window all appears fine..ok..occasionally the menu does jitter..but the movie itself isnt out of sync. Whats going wrong.

Have tried - and wasted i add many discs and TIME!! - thinking 'outside the box' so to speak..shortening my menu ( for once its made up of a series of photos ) Would the problem with my menu effect the out of sync in the final burn?

Any thoughts...welcome...please. Driving me nuts...so much time wasted..burning and then throwing in the bin. Have tried various methods.

Finally.....does anyone know how i can set up the menu/scene selections ie, break up the movie into chunks and name them..put on music, video for menu etc...do a nice job...but basically save it once...without losing quality? so that everytime i plan to burn a copy of this latest project i dont have to re-do the whole menu thang ie, break into chunks, name them..colour the font etc etc any thoughts again more than welcome...pointless at the moment seeing as cant properly burn the thing!!

Any thoughts on why this is happening? Something ive done when saved the original movie. All works fine in the VS programme, and looking at it at the final menu stage...all seems fine. In the past when things havent burnt properly its usually evident in the menu process..this time though..as i say...aside from juttery menu...sometimes juttery sometimes not..the movie itself appears fine.

C'mon, you've been around long enough to know we need more info to go on before we can attempt any kind of meaningful help. Guessing games only lead to frustration for all parties involved.

:D That's a good one! :D

I don't know if that kind of language really holds-up in court, but I believe it's standard "boilerplate" for software EULAs.

Usually, this has something to do with your original video file. For some unknown reason, Vidoe Studio is having trouble transcoding it (and re-multiplexing it) to the final format. Maybe your original video has some slight corruption, or perhaps it's just a format (or format variation) that Video Studio has trouble with.

The only way to preserve all of the original quality is to not re-encode it. For example, if you're making a DVD and you feed-in DVD compatible MPEG-2, the MPEG-2 doesn't have to be transcoded/recoded (unless you do something like use a filter that requires re-encoding).

Will Ulead give me money back for wasted discs??

If you knew you were wasting discs why did you keep on trying?
Why did you not either

1. Seek help from here
2. Seek help from Corel
3. Burn your project to a hard drive folder instead of a disc
4. Use re-writeable discs.

Come on - none of the above relate to rocket science.

As Sj has suggested

Best option burn to disk as a project or better still an IMg (IMAGE) file then use something like Deamon Tools Lite to create a VIRTUAL DVD drive.

Mount and play from the virtual see what happens....

Hi lakewud

You¡¦ve probably heard this all before, but to burn a DVD we need an Mpeg 2 video file.
We can create the file from Share Create Video file.
We can play the video file to check quality.
Using this file in a new project, Share Create Disc Add Video File.

Or
We can go direct to Share Create Disc from the project.
The Mpeg 2 file will be rendered in the burner module and used to burn the disc.
You should check the properties under the options cogwheel.

If you need to burn additional copies you have several options.
In the last window choose Create DVD Folders or Create Disc Image.

Both options saves the entire disc, including menu¡¦s to a file on the hard drive.
The disc image being burned to a disc using the VCD/DVD/Disc Image Recorder, provided with VS 10.
The DVD folder can normally be played using a media player.
VS 10 can burn copies using the burner modules Add Media-Digital Media option.

Ok

All you have to do is create a good quality Mpeg file from the project.

Knowing where your original files came from, along with their video properties and length would allow us to advise on your final render properties.
Your workflow, can it be improved. How do you do it?

If your still unsure of the quality, use a DVD-RW disc, a re-writable disc prior to burning the final disc.
