I downloaded the trial version yesterday. After a few tests I found that it could not render an acceptable bluray file from my .mts files filmed by my Panasonic SD9 camcorder.

The trial version will not allow you to try to create a bluray disc.

I would not buy another upgrade that will not render my video.

Today, using the X3 trial I made a 5 minute video using my .mts files with titles and music and rendered it as a bluray 1920x 1080 resolution film. This time the film rendered OK without the problems VS X2 has. I will have to go back to VS X2 to create a bluray disc.

I have struggled for over 6 months with VSX2 and have been ussuccessful in producing an acceptable Bluray movie. I don't think that any of us should have to pay £59 to upgrade to a new version when we have already paid for a version that does not do what it 'says on the box'!

Corel should bring out a patch for VSX2 to correct these defects.

I notice that in VSX3 the captions on the editing screens are still light grey on dark grey which makes them very difficult to read except in a blacked out room.

No it doesn't unfortunately. While the H264 decoding/encoding DLLs are updated to newer versions these don't seem to be the cause of the problem.

I'll reiterate what I posted earlier; It ain't gonna happen.

I agree that ethically, they should. But past pratice shows -- as Black Lab says -- they won't. "How to win friends ..."

Ill give it a go. If that is your experience, why all the negative stuff about win7 and x2 in the x2 and win7 thread do you think?

Cheers

Until the second patch, which is specifically for Win 7, came out relatively recently, there were a number of problems in the burning module of X2. But they were fixed with that patch.

This thread is only a few days old and is already 8 pages long.
This is making it rather difficult to pick up various individual points.

In view of this I am now going to lock this thread and request that members create new separate threads in respect of different anomalies that are discovered. Please give each thread a meaningful title. I would also suggest you prefix the thread VSX3.

Examples:
VSX3: Problem importing Videos
VSX3: Problem burning a DVD
VSX3: Problem with titles

Etc.

That's correct. They took off the NewBlueFx inserted in VS X2 and replaced with some others. I think that to enforce people to pay money, they should add something, not just replacing with something else...
So if you really want the X2 NewBlueFx in your X3 why not just copy them over?
Just tried your suggestion: I copied the .vft files in the X3\vft_plug folder.
Pls, correct me if I missed some other operation in addition to jsut copying these files...
VS X3 reads these plug-ins but then it shows them as black boxes and once applied to a clip, they just turn the clip to black.
It looks like they are not activated, i.e., same as for other NewBlueFx if the activation key is not inserted.
In VS X2 they are probably activated at teh installation.
Btw, just for the record, I also tried the opposite, i.e. copying the X3 NewBlueFx PiP back to X2, but in this case the situation is even worst, as VS X2 alerts a plug-in corruption message once the effect is selected...
I just got around to trying to copy my X2 NewBlueFX into X3, and they work, contrary to Roberto's findings. What I did was:

(Using XP) Go to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\vft_plug and copied ALL files that start with NewBlue or NB.

I then went to C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X3\vft_plug and pasted the files there. A couple of times I was asked if I wanted to replace a newer file, I answered no.

I opened X3, put a video clip on the timeline and applied one of the NewBlue filters from X2 and it worked perfectly.
