auto music, smart sound, random sound

Post by bgd73 »

I am having a bit of trouble with the sound. It works if I set it on "audio view"..only if I wait. then it doesn't work at all randomly. I have no auto music, (smart sound).

I checked logs, reinstalled everything, including the patch for vista. I checked project settings and preferences audio related. What's up?

p4 3.4e
4gb memory
160 gb twinned drives
ati 3650
vista sp2
corel 12 x2

I am at a loss here. no errors anywhere.

You have a sound problem but didn't mention what your sound device is... either way have you updated your sound device drivers too?

the sound is soundmax wdm driver, windows installed it. Appears to be older version, as in stereo 2 channel. I do not use dolby 5.1 surround, just like my vid camera. That means latest driver is latest driver whatver windows gave me. the sound error is all sounds, it does not matter what it is, and in vsx2
the machine is an 875p chipset workstation...ECC ram included.

I have run into this before with an 865 chipset, analog devices sound...

the advice was for pagefiile remaining on C, which I cannot stand doing, it is a hog of realtime threads. I have it now on the root of a second twinned drive. Has been for five years. my greatest performer.

Should I try this pagefile back to C:\?
I am hoping a modern Corel programmer got over the pagefile quibble.
That is why I am at a loss for an answer. No errors anywhere. And it didn't seem to matter after a while about pagefile in previous video studio, I do not even know what fixed it..it just fixed itself. This time however, it is being stubborn, and getting to be frustrating.

I can assume it is arguing with something OS related?
As these problems go, and my 12 years running, I know there is alot more folks than I with this error. I am sure for an answer,Thanks for help.
