Hello everyone,
Thanks to some helpful input from this forum, I'm now creating full-resolution/full-bit-rate AVCHD output files (24,000 kbps bit rate) from VideoStudio.
However, my laptop would often stutter trying to play these files. Windows medial player (in windows 7 OS) would stutter. VLC player wasn't much better.
However, I tried this free Splash Lite 1.2 (http://mirillis.com/index.html) and it seems optimized to allow hardware acceleration of video playback and use multiple cores. I think it may be based on the very popular Oxygen player that used to be available.
Now I can play back my AVCHD creations easily on my laptop.
Hope this is helpful,
