x3 blip
Hi Xyzzy2
Smart Render will have little effect to the render times as you are re-coding H264 to Mpeg 2.
But it may be best to disable it just for a test.
From Share Create Video file¡XDVD-Pal DVD 16:9
Select Options button in the following save window,(Create Video File), uncheck Smart Render option.
As for direct-x I am not sure whether its best to re-install after installing Video Studio.
I know that using the manual approach does definitely fix some anomalies with Video Studio.
If I owned your PC I would do a clean install of my ulead/corel products
I managed to send the zip to my friend and waiting for his reply.

Replaced the DLL in MPEG with 2.0.1.7 version from Filters. For every attempt, SmartRender was unchecked.
Blips stay the same (AVCHD->AVCHD, AVCHD->MPEG2).
BUT, I've noticed that for each rendering two files in c:\ with names like 5_15_42_24.txt are created, each with contents:
CMpeg4Splitter::BreakConnect() Enter
CMpeg4Splitter::BreakConnect() Enter
(the same line twice). The files' creation issue is known, but for non-problematic rendering, these files contain full log of operations.
Please note, this attempts are made with Administrator privileges, on a clean system.

x2 blips
Hi Xyzzy2
I have had access to a different Computer running XP, thanks Jack aka jaysto
Only X2 installed No Patch------------ Rendered sample with blips
Interestingly the H264dec.ll in the filter section does not exist.
Installed X2 patch, now I have the dll files--- same results blips
Did a bit of dll cloning-----------------------no change still blips.
Installed latest Direct X ---------------------no change there either.
I now have to persuade Jack to install X3
By the way Xyzzy2, what other ulead/corel software is installed on your pc.
And now I am totally confused cos I have H264dec.dll version 2.0.1.4 for both and I get good video.
By the way, each time you render you ought to start a new project, otherwise smart render will kick in which only fully renders changes, copying the rest, you may find subsequent renders faster.

On the test system I am using nothing is installed, except for IE7, WMP11 and .net Framework 3.5, and VS X2 of course.
I've tried with both DLLs on 2.0.1.4 with no success.
You know what is the most infuriating here? That, afair, Corel people reported successful problem reproduction and... did nothing.

To add one more person's experience to the discussion, here is mine.
I installed X3 trial on a different PC than where X2 is installed. The following experiments were done with Sony AVCHD clips rendered to an AVCHD video file. Smart Render off. Fade-to-black transitions between each clip. No other editing.
X2:
1. I followed Phillp_l's .dll suggestion, then used X2 to render an AVCHD video file. The result was the same blips that X2 has always exhibited. The video was of baseball players running the bases, and at the end of each transition I could clearly see the runners going backwards because 2 frames were repeated.
2. I replaced the .dll in both X2 folder locations with the same-named .dll from X3, which is a newer version than either .dll in X2. The file rendered by X2 file (using the X3 .dll) had the same blips.
X3:
3. On the other PC, using X3 trial with the same baseball clips, the frame repeat blips did not occur, so I thought the problem was fixed. However, later I tried another set of clips of boats sailing across water. In one clip the boat did jump backwards at the end of a transition. There was no blip after the transitions in the other boat clips. So it seems to depend on the particular clip(s) involved.
4. Even when X3 renders AVCHD without the 2-frame repeat blip, there is a split-second of some type of artifact that looks like pixelization or blockiness at the beginning of the transition, and at the end of the transition. Playing the video at full speed, it is quick and subtle, but is easily visible. Viewing the video frame-by-frame, I can see that this is caused by small blocks or pixalization occurring for several frames as the transition begins and again as it ends.

I just wonder if this is to do with the fact that many members who experience the blip problem are using MTS files whereas some who use M2TS files do not get the blips on a "doctored VS x2" My camera records to MTS and that is what I get if I drag and drop from the camera HD to my PC. If however, I use the camera supplied import software I get M2TS files. I have searched for the difference between these two but so far have come to no meaningful explanation. Will keep looking but it's a bit like watching paint dry!dalemccl wrote:So it seems to depend on the particular clip(s) involved.

Re: x2 blips HD
Not exactly, I'm using a Windows 7 machine at the moment! Will update my system if I keep this PC. I will try to temporarily install VSx2 on my old XP machine and do the DLL thing and see if that works. Will have to wait till Monday though am tied up over the weekend.trevor andrew wrote:hi John
