Post by quessed »

Hi,

When Im using VS8 for editing or transfering, my CPU Usage goes to 100% and my PC go slow. What can I do? I look for virus or spyware and don't find anything...

100% CPU utilization during video editing, encoding, and even preview can be quite normal, it all depends on your system specs and exactly what you are doing, none of which you provided in your post.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the 100% CPU utilization in your case.

You wrote "transferring" -- if that's a DV transfer from a MiniDV camcorder to your PC in AVI format, then something is wrong. Otherwise, if it's an analog capture from a video card, or a capture in MPEG2 format, 100% CPU utilization would be quite normal.

The same applies to encoding. Usually PCs are CPU-bound, i.e. the CPU is the slowest component and therefore pegged at 100% while the hard drive may be idle at times.
