OK But you must have an account to sign in to. If you registered your software you probably have an account.

I was afraid of that because when I enter www.corel.com/youraccount it actually takes me to a page showing my saved log in info all I have to do is clicked on log in. So I tried another approach. If mitchell65 s solution does not work maybe this will. Simply www.corel.com at the top of that page is a "Your Account Tab". Then click on "Review Your Order Status and History". Then click on the actual order number. That is when the magic window pops up. And you can email it to your self if you want to

Yes that is certainly a must. Since I sat up my account to "Remember Me" when I go to corel.com/your account it takes me directly to log in, but if I go to corel.com I have to go through the whole process of logging in. It should not make a difference, but when asked to choose a country or location I choose USA.

When I am asked for location I think I am actually being asked what is my financial location. If I say I am in Peru and give US credit card info all kinds of red flags arise, fraud being one and making buying online very difficult. For that reason I maintain a US address for banking and credit purposes. Also I am assured of getting all web pages emails and info in my native language.

Yep I have an e-mail and password so can access the software previously purchased. Going to try when I get home so don't want to get carried away prematurely!

Houston we have a problem

Post by tonyjer »

Hi again

I¡¦m floundering and going around in ever decreasing circles now!

Am trying to revive my previously downloaded Pro X2. Have successfully downloaded installation prog (many thanks Mitchell et al). However my serial Number is not acceptable to the prog as it says ¡§I can only upgrade to Pro X2 from ¡K¡K¡¨ I paid $70.49 for Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 Upgrade (English). I¡¦m going back to 2008 but think I qualified for the upgrade as I had a paid version of VS8.

I also recall using the trial version of VS11 and being advised by Corel (some guy called Reste) that I needed to uninstall this and possibly VS8 before installing Pro X2. As previously stated my existing version of Pro X2 became defunct for some reason and in searching my download folder I found what I thought to be the install prog-unfortunately it was a clean up utility they had obviously sent me and it removed the defunct Pro X2!!

I¡¦m sure I don¡¦t have the old documentation relating to VS8 but I was obviously entitled to the ¡§upgrade¡¨ which is now no use to me.

Can anyone think of a workaround or provide a contact for support at Corel. I¡¦m pretty certain this chain of events is covered in the FAQs and online support. (I tried support@corel.com but it doesn¡¦t work)

Forgive the length but hope someone can appreciate my predicament. I seem to have been the victim of circumstances here.

Many thanks

Tony

If you have a paid version of VS8 and had registered it, that serial number would also be on your Corel.com history. In the installation procedure for X2 Upgrade version, it merely asks you for the serial number of the previous version you are upgrading for if it cannot detect that program already installed on your computer.

Hi

Just checked product history and no record of VS8 so obviously didn't register it.

You are correct about the prompt for the old serial No but I just don't have it. I have only searched high and am yet to search low but am not confident.

The problem is that I had it and used it to use the prog for 18 months but now I haven't got it and can't prove that I had it.

I have checked my question and answer history in "My Account" and this Reste chap was on phsupport@corel.com.

I'll try this e-mail but if it fails can you recommend an alternate customer service e-mail (I guess there has to be one).

Thanks

Tony

I've had the same issue a couple of times. Never really pinpointed the cause. Instructions from Corel were 1: completely remove the X2 software; download X2 from Corel site and do a clean install. This method worked for me.

Have you checked old emails for perhaps a purchase confirmation and license key from Corel?

Corel's instructions for complete removal of X2.
1. Download and install the Microsoft Windows Clean Up utility. This will remove all registry keys associated with the VideoStudio 12.0 install process:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;290301

2. Run the Windows Clean Up utility; Click Start >> Programs >> Windows Install Clean Up. Highlight VideoStudio 12.0 from the list of products. Click Remove. Click Exit when done.

If an error occurs after clicking the remove button, just click Ok to ignore and exit the utility.

3. Delete the following folders/directories:

*C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 12\
On Windows XP:
¡E C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\application data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0

On Windows Vista:
¡E C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio\12.0

4. Go to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\ and delete the {F0FDF9C9-1DDC-401F-B638-36F1CAE8A875} folder.
5. Go to Start >> Run and then type: regedit
6. Hit "OK" to launch Regedit window.
7. Go to "My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio"; delete the folder "12.0"
8. Go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio"; delete the folder "12.0"
9. Close the Regedit.
10. Clean up temporary files and Recycle Bin by launching the Disk Cleanup from Start menu >> Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Cleanup.

Thanks but I think there is perhaps some slight misunderstanding.

I have the e-mail with the purchase key for the Pro X2 Upgrade

What I no longer have is the purchase key for VS8 which I used to activate the upgrade in Sept 08.

I was also advised to remove every trace of the prog with the clean up utility etc but that was because the upgrade didn't work initially due to codec issues and installing over previous versions.

I have already (inadvertently) uninstalled Pro X2 and can't see the link between forensic uninstallation and the upgrade situation which is entirely different I think.

I will battle through the on line support and maybe eventually be able to submit an e-mail with my problem.

Just seems a bit much having to purchase the same (or more expensive product) simply because my registry checker was over zealous in identifying missing or invalid files!!

You need to sign in to your Corel Account, then go to Support an then the Knowledge Base and from there if you cant find the answer to your query you can send an email with a question This is the part that you come to ;
Ask a Question

Click this tab to submit a question to our support staff when you are unable to find your answer by searching the knowledge base. If you do not have a customer account, you must create one before your question will be submitted. The system may suggest possible answers, which you can view before finally submitting your question.
jave used this a number of times and found the Corel Response very good.
