Coral video studio has stopped working...

Post by tonyjer »

Hi

Apologies if this has been posted before but couldn't find it. Yeserday, completely out of the blue,I got the above error message on launch and I can't get past it. Just says "A problem has caused the prog to sop working correctly"....

Haven't installed any updates (maybe I should). However, I did run my PC Tool Registry Mechanic which identified some invalid entries (like it always does) and I repaired em (like I always do).

I have done nothing else which might explain this. Intriguingly I have been spending some time decomposing a video project which was giving me the infamous "Convert step got some problems" error message. It surely can't be anyhting to do with this can it?

Everyhting was fine before yesterday.

Any advice much appreciated as usual.

Have you tried a Repair or Reinstall? That might reinstall any essential files which might have been inadvertently wiped in your Registry clean-up...

...Or a System Restore, if Ken's advice doesn't work.

The Repair option usually only goes with a boxed version of the program -- although with X2, I have the Ultimate download version, and it has the Repair option as well.

First off, I would simply reinstall over the existing installation to see if it fixes what might have been taken out...

But overall, the easiest might be, as Black Lab suggests, a simple Restore to a day before your Registry clean-up...

Prog not working

Hi

Believe it or not System Restore isn't working. Had this problem before I seem to recall.

Talk about bad luck.

Will try the reinstall option.

Thanks again.

system restore

Post by Trevor Andrew »

Hi Antonio y Anna
and a yappy new year to you. (oh dear i mean happy)

You seem to have had your share of problems with this software.

System Restore
It may be your Anti-Virus program that is causing this to fail.

One version I used disabled any changes to its files. As System Restore could not change them it simply failed. (sorry cant remember which version¡Xmay be Norton)

There was an option in the Anti Virus program to ¡¥Allow Changes to my Files¡¦ or something like that.
Do a google regarding your Anti Virus and System Restore.

If you have Norton then that stops system restore. If you reboot your PC in Safe Mode then you will be able to restore to a previous point.

Coral VS has stopped working

Post by tonyjer »

Thwarted again!

Went into Safe Mode to use System Restore but the onyl Restore point available was yesterday at the precise time that I ran the prog unsuccessfully (System Restore that is). I know I can create a manual restore point but don't think I can do one retrospectively can I??

Corel VS stopped working

Post by tonyjer »

Thanks Trevor

Don't have Norton (or McAfee). I currently have PC Tool software which includes Virus Protection, Firewall, Spyware Doctor and Registry Checker et al.

I think I'm stymied with System Restore so am using only option of reinstallation. Only problem is that I downloaded the software with Serial No and Purchase Key etc but I must have deleted the installation prog (I still have VS2 Pro Bonus Pack, VS2 Pro Content Pack and the Patch exe file that I used to install this). What I don't seem to have is the main programme installation file.

I've checked my order status and all my items including the Serial No are shown but I can't figure out how to download again. Surely I don't have to pay again in these circumstances as I only got the product in Oct 08!!

I've combed the support pages but can't seem to find a way of re-downloading the programme. I tried the support@corel.com which I used before but it's undeliverable.

Any advice for a desperate man.

Thanks

Tony

When I first got VS 12 I had to re download a couple of times. I tend to save emails of receipts with down load info so I have the links in my computer. I just went to Corel and I found my download info online at Corel. Try this: www.corel.com/youraccount. Hopefully you sat up an account already. Click "review order status" then click Order Number" A window will pop up with all that you ordered for downloading again. You will have to scroll the window they are at the end. Hope it works for you.

The link from Darryl seems to return, "Canot find this Page" but if you Google "My account with Corel" and pick this one:
