Hello all,
I'm trying to create AVCHD video files from raw AVCHD footage shot with my Canon HF200.
From reading various posts in this forum, it appears that VStudio X2 Pro can create AVCHD video files without altering the original AVCHD footage from the camcorder (i.e. no bits/etc are lost/altered from the original Canon AVCHD footage when being processed by VStudio in this way).
However, I cannot seem to figure out how to perform this sort of "pass-through" processing.
Can someone tell me step by step how to do this? Also, perhaps this has to do with the "Same as First Video Clip" being grayed out in my "Create Video File" submenu?
Any thoughts? I've been reading this forum and can't find the answer to this question.
Thanks,

John -- that's the obvious answer, of course. But as the OP said:
That being said, I have no real idea about what the problem might be... I had originally read the post as referring to SmartRender, but the 'Same As...' button being grayed out threw me...
So I guess that idea will not work...Also, perhaps this has to do with the "Same as First Video Clip" being grayed out in my "Create Video File" submenu?

Sorry I missed the "greyed out". I wonder if this has something to do with whether the original clip is M2TS or MTS? I found if I just drag and drop the file from the hard drive on the camera to my PC I get an MTS file whereas If I use the Corel Guide menu to transfer the file I get an M2TS. The difference between the two is the codec, I think

Do you mean that you do not want to edit the video at all, no cuts, no additions such as titles or music?
If so then you start a new project and go directly to the [Share] Tab.
Select [Create Disc] and select AVCHD
Import your AVCHD Video.
Click the Cogwheel and a pop up appears where you then ensure that
"Do not Convert Compliant MPEG files" is checked.

Thanks for all your excellent input--I greatly appreciate it.
It turns out that "The Same As First Clip" was greyed out because I was idiotically editing all of my videos on the "overlay" track (as was mentioned by the above poster). I had settled into this bad habit as it was easier for me to move files around on this area in the timeline.
Once I moved my video files (.mts format) from the overlay track to the video track, I was able to select "The Same As First Clip" and create videos quickly that appear at first glance to be the same bit rate/resolution as the original files from my Canon HF200 (approx 22,000).
. . . the way I was doing it before with the overlay track was yielding awful bitrate of approx 11,000 (half the original file).
Thanks again for all of your excellent input--this question that I've been trying to address for a few months is now answered.
