problems with Pro x2

Post by Dick »

I've upgraded my PC and am now running Windows 7 on an 8gig Athlon phenom quad core. As a result I also upgraded from movie factory 6 to PRO x2. My biggest problem right now is that I have imported some AVI video. edited it and added titles. Everything previews and seems to work fine. I go to share the video by trying to burn it to a DVD. After clicking on the DVD option I set up the menu etc, Then click" next" which puts me to a preview screen. Before and after previewing the movie, the only option I have available to click on is "back" No "next" option shows up to allow me to proceed to rendering and burning the DVD. After the preview completes it starts over again. In addition the capture plug in does not work with my capture device (but I sort of expected the) and when I tried to save my work by "sharing" it as a video file rendering just hung at 93% done....any suggestions would be appreciated.....Dick

First, we have no idea what kind of AVI you are editing. There are literally hundreds of video formats which use the convenient .avi extension but are widely different in their properties. Please right click on one of the clips inside Video Studio -- either the timeline or library window -- and copy ALL its properties here.

Second, it sounds as though you have not applied the Windows 7 patch to your X2. Please see the (now lengthy) Sticky on Windows 7 at the top of this forum.

Yes I had applied the W7 patch, But late last night, I had a thought. I had had a problem last year with the capture function in Movie factory 6, which was resolved (with help from MF forum) by changing the disc template sound entry from dolby 5.1 digital to stereo. Thinking that might also be the capture problem with pro x2, I checked the disc template manager in pro x2 and found the sound entry was dolby 5.1. I changed that to stereo and the capture problem remained (which is no big problem) , but to my surprise, the render to video issue went away as well as it resolving the issue of moving from the preview screen to the DVD burning screen. When I was having the problems with Pro x2, I didn't relate those problems to last years MF6 capture issue. Anyway, I'm happy. Thanks a bunch for your quick reply. I haven't yet checked the AVI properties, but the film snips came out of a canon camera.....Dick
