two computers file location

Post by Mike Painter »

I have a laptop with 512k RAM and a 2.4 GHz processor networked with a desktop with 384 and 1.6 but with a couple large monitors and a DVD burner. The network is wireless.
I would like to capture and render on the laptop; edit and burn on the desktop.
Is this doable? I would assume the files would stay on the laptop until actually burning the DVD.

Yes, it's doable. I often use my laptop to render and create an ISO file of my project, and then burn it from my desktop -- my laptop doesn't have a DVD burner.

This is my standard modus operandi. One computer doesn't have DVD burner; the other lacks Firewire. But I do have them networked. So no problem. The key benefit is knowing that there's another copy of the capture sitting safe.
