I have been everywhere on the net searching for an improvement to the color corrector provided with VS12.
I have been making a movie from a number of camcorder clips (not mine) the were recorded in a dark environment and are basically not usable in their raw form. I have tried every trick in the book with the VS12 color corrector, but it is just not flexible enough. I took a couple of clips to a friend's house and corrected them in Vegas 8 with the "three circle" corrector and got excellent results. I would like to do the same in VS.
Question is: Does anyone know of a "high level" color corrector plug-in for VS12 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Just like the old saying "price, quality, speed - pick any two" I think with your request of high level or reasonable cost you're going to have to pick one.Does anyone know of a "high level" color corrector plug-in for VS12 that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Did you try tweaking the Gamma setting? If so, then try taking a look into what NewBlue offers: http://www.newbluefx.com

I used brightness, contrast and gamma to get a decent overall light level. The real problem is with the colors. A single hue and saturation control is just not enough to get the colors balanced. With Vegas, it was possible to adjust colors for dark, mid and high brightness levels and get a fairly decent result.rguthrie wrote:Did you try tweaking the Gamma setting? I realize that you can't get something perfect out of poor source material, but evidently, more 'controls' can give a pretty good result. I will take a look at 'newbluefx'.
Thanks.

OK, I tried the 'NewBlueFX' trial package. It has some nice features, but I couldn't get anywhere near the result that I could get from Vegas. I guess for now I will color correct in Vegas and re-import into VS12. My friend also pointed out another nice feature in Vegas -- you can add effects (graphic equalizer, etc.) to the sound track in videos without having to split them off and risk losing sync. Maybe when I get rich, I'll just have to buy Vegas.

It is a lot cheaper to simply add a (FREE) graphic equalizer to VideoStudio.

Maybe you misunderstood. I actually have a couple of graphic equalizer plug-ins for AUDIO. What I was seeking is a color corrector for the video.sjj1805 wrote:It is a lot cheaper to simply add a (FREE) graphic equalizer to VideoStudio.
