works fine on my system. Looks like they got their act together again.
My system is home built and well tested for stability, and it also seems to be sensitive to Corel's buggy patches, so if it works for me it will probably work for you too.
Thanks Corel this patch is endorsed by me but don't blame me if your computer catches fire
My copy of WinDVD generally works, but isn't very polished even though it looks nice.
An example of this was when was watching District 9. It took forever to load and when it did the keyboard controls like fast forward or skip wouldn't work when playing the movie, but the mouse skip controls did. Sloppy. I have Arcsoft TMT and it loaded almost instantly and the controls worked so it is not the movie or my PC.
At least it played though. This is the first new release Blu Ray that played on my PC without issues.
I updated my WinDVD 9 + Blu-Ray with the above update patch, and it works fine. Moreover, in Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7), it shows that number as the identifier of the version.
However, now, whenever I open WinDVD, an update notice appears on the screen of WinDVD, but what it is trying to upgrade to is 9.0.14.91_63207_Plus_iUpgrade... Moreover, often, though not always, when I reboot the computer, I get a screen which is already downloading that update patch...
By way of background, I should note that I had uninstalled and reinstalled WinDVD recently. I am sure I have the Blu-Ray version, but I was having difficulty getting it to play BD folders prepared in Movie Factory 7 Pro. I had not read the relevant thread on this forum which would have informed me that WinDVD cannot do that anyway. But with my original installation of WinDVD I had updated with the patch which is now trying to install itself without any intervention from me.

Check the following two locations in your windows registry.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
You will probably find an entry where WinDVD checks for updates upon starting Windows. If so just delete the entry.
To confirm your version of WinDVD includes Blue Ray, check the "About" screen.
Hate to sound totally klutzy, but I cannot find an About screen... But as I say, I am sure I have the Blu-Ray version as it plays my AVCHD/HDV videos just fine...
Never mind. Quite by accident I was clicking on a black spot in the bottom left hand corner of the WinDVD Screen, and 'About' appeared! Why on earth isn't it up somewhere in the top right, like just about all other programs?
But anyway, it merely confirmed what I already knew: that it is indeed the Blu-Ray enabled version...
