How can I combine two project files?

Post by falcione »

I have two separate projects (MF6+, HD DVD) and would like to combine them into one project. is there an easy way to do this or do I have to basically add all the video files from one of the projects into the other and re-edit everything?

It all depends upon how you want your completed DVD to behave.
If you want two "Titles" on your DVD Menu then simply import both projects and continue on to the next stage - creating chapters, selecting a suitable menu etc.

If you want to combine them so that they become one title then select both clips and a new option will appear to merge them.

Thanks for replying. But how do I import a project file? When I try to 'import' or 'add video', I dont get the option to add project files(DWZ files), just the raw video files (M2TS or AVI).

While you can import VideoStudio Project files (VSP), it does not allow importing or combining DVD MF project files (DWZ). You will need to render each project to a video file, then import them. Once imported, then you can use the method described by Steve in the above post..

Thanks. Sorry for being thick headed, but when I rendered each project to a video file (i.e. I selected option to 'create DVD/HD DVD folder') and then went and tried to import those into a new project, it doesnt work (when I choose import and then browse the harddrive and select the folder or any of the sub folders that were created, it never gives me the change to press the 'import' button (i.e. it's shaded out so I cant select it)..like it doesnt see/recognize it as a video file.

The way I got around this was to export all the M2TS files so they become MPG files. Then I start a new project and add the MPG files. Then I can join the files to reduce the number of titles.
