"share" formats

Post by michandjohn »

Hi, Am aware tha various vidoe formats have pros and cons. I do voluntary work in Vietnam and provde video feedback to sponsors, supporters etc. As project has continued, the option of burning individual DVD's and sending nationally and internationally has become ridiculous. U-tube is very poor quality so have bought webspace to upload video files to. Anticipate that various individuals will want to a) "play" directly from the file b) "play" from the downloaded file c) burn file to DVD to play on DVD player/TV.
Questions: What format or combination of formats shoud I upload?
What does MPG optimizer do?
Many thanks,
John

I agree, YouTube quality is usually pretty good, though it also depends on the original footage.

If you are going to upload clips to your own site I would use WMV, MOV, or Flash, as most people have those players on their system, or they can easily be downloaded.

Many thanks to you both. Perhaps it's the original footage that I'm seeing on U-tube that makes it look bad. John
