Is there a way to save the DVD menu, as a template or a file type, in X2?

Or, does anybody know where the DVD menu's (the menu's the user makes ) are stored just prior to burning the DVD? And can they then be used - imported for each new DVD session?

It seems I have to re-create the menu's each and everytime I leave the create disk module.

If it's (X2) is anything like its predecessors all you need to do is once you have created your menu, exit CREATE DISK and then select SAVE AS from the FILE menu (as if you were saving a project). THen next time LOAD the file (whatever you named it) and then go to CREATE DISK and your menu should be there.

If you want to save your menu as a template to use in future projects, in the Customise menu window there is a little icon below the preview screen that when you rest your curser on it reads "Adds the current custom menu to the favorites folder" Clicking that icon saves the template as a ufo file. When you next want to use go to the Menu Gallery drop down window choose "Favorites" and your menu template should be there.

Yep, that was it. Thanks.

I guess I never noticed that the little icon under the DVD menu preview window changed from grayed out to highlighted ¡§active¡¨.

The icon won¡¦t change (at least for me) to active, even if I change the background or music, until I modify some feature of the default menu like: move title text, change or move a menu window, etc.

Again, thanks

Hello,
I recognised the same problem in my "old" Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus version.
Each time, when I create a disc of a project done before, I have to edit the menu totally new from the beginning.
Does anybody know a possibilty in the "old" Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus to save the just created menu?
Thanks in advance!
I am using Windows XP.
My Ulead VideoStudio is version 10.
My camcorder camera is Sony DCR DVD-505.
Thus - my source video is MPEG-2 stored on small DVD disks.

As John Arnold posted above, after you create/edit your menu you want to close out of the entire Share/Menu/Burn phase. You will get a message that it is "saving" then it will take you back to the VS timeline. At this point you want to go to File>Save As and give it a name. This can be considered your "menu project" and, as such, I usually name it "Holiday Menu", for example. Then next time you open the Holiday Menu project and go to Share>Create Disc your created/edited menu will be there.

Jeff, thank you very much for your quick reply!
Do you know a procedure how I can save my previously created menu, if I have not interrupted my last "create disk" process as you have mentioned?
With my last access to VS10
(1) I created a new menu and
(2) then continued the entire "create disk" process and
(3) then finally saved the whole project.
I am now afraid (from my previous experiences) that when I open again my project and start again the "create disk" process that I don't get my old menu configuration?
By the way - do I have to include at the beginning the chapter files again or not (may be VS10 already knows that they are needed for the upcoming menu creation?).
Much regards and once more thanks for your help in advance!

There are two methods to save a menu, one is a temporary measure and that is for the current project only. What you do is SAVE the project before you quit that project. You must IGNORE the misleading message automatically generated by VideoStudio when you exit the [Create Disc] Phase. No one has yet worked out what is is supposedly saving and so you must do so manually.

For a more permanent measure - so that a menu can be used in other projects, you have to go to the Edit Tab. Make any minor adjustment to the menu and it will then provide an option to save it. It will then appear in the drop down list of available menus as a favourite.
