Yes, that is what the experts say. The Ulead converter is probably not as good as your TV inbuilt converter (on the supposition you have a recent TV).
Personally I've tried it both ways and did not see much difference, but in any case I now check the "do not deinterlace" box and leave it to the Tv to do.
