I seriously doubt there is anything on the horizon to replace MediaStudio. They had a perfectly good product and abandoned it. You think they would now spend money to replace it?
As for VS, when it was actually owned by the original company you could count on a new version every 12 months. Now with Corel, they are on a completely different time schedule. And that's not to say that one is imminent, only that it is now impossible to guess as to when (if) an update might be expected.

VideoStudio Express 2010 just doesn¡¦t cut and seems to be a step backward. it it¡¦s kind of sad I have used VS since version 9 and its been a good product and gotten a lot better with every new version.
Iit just need a few more advanced features to make it a great product !
I would hope Corel would let us know if a new version is on its way or not
Or maybe they have decided to go after the windows movie maker with Express 2010

Whether it be Corel, Intervideo, or Ulead they never pre-announced the development of a new release. Prior to it going on sale they may have announced a "coming soon", but that was about it.I would hope Corel would let us know if a new version is on its way or not
I certainly hope they would not lower their standards by abandoning VS and only try to compete with a perfectly good product (for what it does) that comes free with 90% of the operating systems in the world.Or maybe they have decided to go after the windows movie maker with Express 2010

Here is hoping that VS continues its trend in the future under Corel. They have made some mistakes since the take over but let's hope this product survives and continues to get better. I've been using this since version 7 and really don't feel like jumping ship. I will if they screw this up though...considering I'm going to have to with PhotoImpact anyway. Paint Shop is terrible.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
