NewBlueFx plug-in

Post by Roberto »

Hi,

I am going to buy some of the NewBlueFx plug-ins and I wonder if there is any known issue/limitation with Video Studio Pro X2.
For example:

- is there a maximum number of plug-ins that can be installed (in terms of how many different plug-ins VS can handle in the menu list) ?
- is there any incompatibility with Burget transitions and NewBlueFx (I read about the one with BenchFx, and I would not like to discover, after I have payed, that something is not working) ?

Any advice is more than welcome.

I can't answer either of your questions, and will leave it to others to do that. But I would say that you need to read the specific small print for each of the NewBlue FX packages carefully. I say this because recently, one of our regular members commented that they seemed great -- which I agree they do -- but at least one of them had effects which were not available for Video Studio, but only for other software packages...

Thanks.

I will check later at home about the compatibility... but at a first glance, it looks like NewBlueFx website claims that alll teh plug-ins are compatible with VS 9 or higher... :-||

If anybody has been using this or prodad Adorage (this could be a valid alternative...), here are other two questions...

1. Any known issue about Prodad Adorage volumes ?
2. Can the two plug-ins (Prodad & NewBlueFx) work together or does one create trouble to the other one ?

Thanks in advance for the answers

Sorry, but they don't -- if you look at each individual package -- rather than the general blurb -- they list what they are compatible with, and at least one does not work with VS... I checked some weeks ago...

I also have some of the Adorage packages and they seem to work fine -- though quite separately -- from the few NewBlue filters I have installed. But I don't have a full NewBlue package, apart from those which came with VS and their one free Cartoon filter...

Mmmh... I just checked again, opening all the effect pages one by one, and the table at the bottom always shows the "X" for Corel/Ulead Video Studio 9 or higher.
Did you find this information for the incompatibility in the same table ?
Of course, I am not asking you to check again... but if you have just 5 min time... :-))
Can it be that they fixed some previous incompatibility with a recent upgrade?

Could this be the reason now everything looks like to be compatible ?

From http://www.newbluefx.com/support.html

- Version 1 to Version 2 coupon

"Art Blends, Art Effects, Motion Blends, and Motion Effects have all been updated to ¡§version 2¡¨. In upgrading these packages, each now contain extra effects or transitions. Originally, these packages had 7 or 8 effects or transitions. Now each package has 10. Plus, these effects will now work with all video editing applications you have installed for that operating system instead of being limited to a single application. You must own all four products to upgrade. To upgrade, please request a coupon and send confirmation of ownership of version 1 of these products."

Well it has taken rather longer than 5 minutes to check, plus the installation of Google Chrome to get around some Java blocking in Internet Explorer! But it seems that whatever was listed as incompatible with VS is now no longer so...

It appears that all do not work with VS. If you click on thumbs to see video samples you will see a note on Image Mapper and Split Screen that they are not available for VS. I should add that I was looking at Video Essentials III

Okay, some clarification.
From NewBlueFX Customer Support:

Yes, that is correct. Those two effects (Image Mapper and Split Screen) are not available in Corel at this time. We have been working with Corel to resolve the limitations found in their API and expect them to be available in a future version.

Thanks for that. I thought I was going crazy -- couldn't really access the small print for a while when I clicked on the thumnails and could not remember which ones I had seen the 'not compatible' in. And a Search using our awful search engine could not even turn up my earlier exchange on the matter...

Yes, got my hopes up for nothing, as those two effects are the ones most blatantly missing (and most asked for) from VS.

Yes, I got the final clarification from NewBlueFx.
Both Video Essentials II and III has come of the effects not working with VideoStudio.
If I remeber well, Chroma, Picture in Picture, Split Screen etc... well the most interesting ones :-((
They told that they are working with Corel, as this incompatibility (they say) is due to the API form Corel which can't support the above functionalities.
I have no idea if/when this will be solved and where (i.e. a free VS upgrade or just in a new release, if any ?)
What is sure, is that this point, to my personal opinion, is not that clear on NewBlueFx website and can lead people to buy these two packages and later on have a bad surprise...

You are correct, because if you do not look at each individual sample you are otherwise led to believe that it is compatible.
