Newbie: Hello Group!

Post by Chief92 »

Hi to everyone! I joined mainly for some support with Corel VideoStudio, but I have used other Corel products for years and found them to be very good. I'm an old guy (62 tomorrow), but know my way around PCs pretty well. I was an old Unix user before there was such a thing as a GUI. My first home computer was an Apple IIe. Things have sure changed since then. I plan on capturing many old Super 8mm and VCR tapes digitally and burning them to DVDs. That is mainly why I bought Corel VideoStudio. I have used Windows Movie Maker that works well, but has its' limits.

I live in a suburb of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and as I write this it is 10 below zero.. In the summer, I golf and garden and enjoy being out of doors, but just hunker down in the winter and enjoy my new grandson. Happy Holidays to all!

Welcome to the family. You have just brought back memories of when I used to use an Apple 2C and Apple 2E.

If you want to see how I converted my Super 8 cine films click the following link.

Thanks Steve: I have book marked your topic for reference when I get to editing my film. I have been using a setup similar to what you described and have had pretty good luck. I use a Sankyo 2000H projector that has reostat speed control. I still am not able to get rid of all the flicker. I'm going to have to check my Sony camcorder to see if it has Steadyshot setting. I had tried the "90 degree telecine image transfer boxes, but find that it does not work as well as just doing it the way you did it. One strange thing. I shot all my old movies with the same camera, but the first reel I captured had absolutely no flicker at all. Others have it. Can't figure that out. I look forward to reading more from this forum. Cheers from across the pond.
