Coping video from DV to computer for buring to DVD

Post by uschig »

I have previously been using Video Studio 7 to copy my old VHS tapes into my computer and then burn to dvd. All Ok.
Now I have purchased a DV mini camcorder, with USB streaming.
What is the best program to use?? I have Video studio 7 and DVD Moviefactory 2
Should I use the Video studio or Moviefacotry - if Moviefactory should I upgrade to the new 4 version?? Should I upgrade to Video Studio 9 or stick with what I know.? Any advice would be apprciated

I think you'll want to use Firewire and not USB. Using Firewire assures complete transfer of your digital video to the computer, and allows you to control the camcorder from your computer screen using Video Studio.

Which program should you use? You don't tell us why you want to use either one. The general answer is that if you like video editing, get VS, and if you just want to burn DVDs with what you have on videotape, then get MF. You are allowed to have both.
