videostudio X2 Track Manager not working

I have been using Ulead VS v 9 through to 11.5 plus and purchased Corel VS X2 mainly for its abitility to handle .wmv files. V 11.5 plus was extreamly slow to load these files.
I have been trying to find the track manager in VS X2. Corel advise to right click on the video track and select track manager.
On trying this no link was displayed
If I use the Track Manager in VS 11.5 to include say 4 overlay tracks and import the saved vsp file to VS X2 the time line shows the 4 overlay tracks.
Can anyone help with this.
I am using V 12.0.106.0

I have never seen that '106' in your version number before, so I suspect you have the plain vanilla version of VS12, and not the Pro version... And you guessed it! I think the vanilla version does not have multiple tracks and hence no track manager...

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I guessed this would be the case. Bit supprised that Corel seemed to think otherwise. I am still awaiting a further response from them and will post the result.
Just as well I kept a copy of VS 11.5

I thought the same thing, Ken. But when I checked Corel's site I couldn't find anything other than X2 Pro.

EDIT: Of course I checked the U.S. site, maybe others are different...

Sorry to say, Jeff, that when X2 was launched, it was in three versions: X2 (standard), Pro and Ultimate. And on my Corel website at least (http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/ ... bview=tab0) the three versions are still advertised.

I think it is the '106' which is the giveaway...

I agree Ken, there were different versions of X2 released. However, the U.S. version of the site only has X2 Pro.

But, I see that the OP states that if he imports a 11.5 project into X2, then multiple tracks do appear. Very strange, no matter what version he is using.

Yes -- I agree, it does seem strange...

Richard: in the Tools menu, does Track Manager appear at the very bottom of the list? Or is there a Track Manager icon immediately below, and a little to the left of the digital clock at the bottom right of the preview screen? (In my versions there are five icons in their own little section, and the Track Manager is the middle one, with SmartProxy and Batch Convert to its left, and 5.1 surround sound and Paint Creator to its right...)

Hi Ken.
Track manager is not included anywhere in the Tools List.
Smart Proxy, Batch Convert and Painting Creator are the only icons showing.
It seems that the ability to expand the time line is there but the link is not.

Sorry but all I can think of for the moment as a possible work-around would be to preserve one of your multi-track VS11 projects as a template -- or create a new multi-track project in VS11 expressly for the purpose. Then in VS12, open that project (and its access to the multiple tracks), and change the video clips in it, including in the extra tracks. I don't know, though, whether you would have to save it to the same name. But you could try changing the name and hope that the multiple tracks are still there next time you open it. An option might be to save the new X2 project as a VS11 project...

Hi Ken. Yes I've done that.
I created 6 overlay tracks and inserted a simple colour into each.
Saved the file as "Overlay Tracks"
When imported in VS X2 all overlay tracks show.
I then simply delete the colours and work on the project.
Just have to remember to save the project as.

Well, glad it worked!

But it would be extremely helpful if you could report back in due course that you can re-open the 'Saved As' project and still have all the extra tracks...

Opened the project file "overlay_manager" vsp, deleted one of the colours from an overlay track and saved the file as "test"vsp. Opened the test file.
All 6 overlay tracks were still intact with one colour missing. Works perfectly.
