I'm having the same problem. This morning I had MP3 capability with VS 12. I upgraded to VS 13, uninstalled VS 12. Now no MP3. I really need it for web-based xvid video clips!

I should re-install VS12. You will probably need it for authoring anyway. The authoring on VS 13 is ???????
But the good news is Corel are likely to issue an update in a couple of weeks time!

...Let's just be clear on this so as to avoid confusion later. Steve said that Corel are working on 'a solution'. He did not use the word 'update'...

According to an email from customer support, X2 is not capable of exporting mp3 audio. :?: I figured I just had to live with it (not happily, of course.) :(

Wait, I"m confused. Isn't VideoStudio Pro X2 = version 12? And Pro X3 = version 13?

I've been using X2 (12) making AVI files with MP3 audio ever since it came out!

Both VS Pro (Ultimate) X2 and VS Pro X3 (12 & 13) are capable of producing MP3. It's located at the bottom on the AVI/Compression tab, in the Audio section.

However VS Pro X3 no longer renders to a DivX file.

Then please refer back to my original question in this topic and tell me how I can access it. You'll see from my screen shots on page one that the option isn't even there.

All I can say is (to Ron) that I can certainly output to XVid -- I have just checked in my X3 installation, under Share > Create Video File > Custom, choosing AVI, then under Compression, XVid in the drop down list. Of course, XVid does not come as part of VS, and never has. You have to load it separately. But it is there, and moreover, I have the option of choosing MP3 ('MPEG audio layer 3') should I wish.

If that is the case, I cannot think why it would not work with DivX in general terms. I note, however, that X3 does not -- unlike its predecessors -- come with a built-in, old DivX codec (version 5.4?). And unfortunately, the only DivX codec I have at the moment is version 7 Pro, which X2 could not see; nor can X3. But I will see if I have an older codec which X2 *could* see, and report back.

FWIW, I recalled that it was DivX 5.1.1 which seemed to be installed by default with earlier versions of VS. So I installed that version and it shows up in X3 Custom > AVI template, with XVid. (And also allows MP3 audio...)

The really curious thing is that both X2 and X3 have, in their Profiles sub-directory, four sets of profiles for DivX -- yet they don't seem to connect to anything...

This is getting real strange...

I checked on my systems, both VS X2 and X3 for DivX and MP3, after reading the post about DivX missing in this thread:
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?t=37055. VS X2 I had the option under AVI to use 6.8 DivX, but in X3 there is no DivX. This holds true on both my machines. On my laptop running Vista, I had to re-install all my NLEs, which includes VS X2, and it picked up my install of DivX 6.8, but X3 does not.

So next I went to Corel's website to check what they had listed for output formats, finding they did not list DivX.
The really curious thing is that both X2 and X3 have, in their Profiles sub-directory, four sets of profiles for DivX -- yet they don't seem to connect to anything...
About the same as all the *.psp files (PaintShop Photo Pro) that are included with VS X3, however I have yet to find how to use them in VS X3.

I never got 6.8 to work in X2, though the Sticky above showed how to get it in 11.5... The relevant .dll was just missing, as it is in X3...

Re: Missing audio options?

Hi. An old thread but trying my luck.
I've just started on X4. At the moment just using it to edit clips for youtube so just require a small-medium file output (to upload fast). I can set XVID for video compression. For audio format, there is still only a handful of options but no mp3 encoding.
1. Was there a solution to use mp3 as audio format? If so, how?
2. if not, how can i use/install other audio encoders in X4?

thanks

Welcome to the Forums, :)

I don't have Xvid codec, so I don't know if MP3 is included with it. I do have DivX 6.9.2, and it does have MPEG Audio Layer 3, ie; MP3. Are you running a full or trial version of VS X4?

I have XVid, and yes, it does have the option of mp3 audio.... I have also just installed the current version of DivX (6.9.2) on this computer (already have it on another) and it too automatically gave the option of mp3 in X4.
