I install X2.
Then before opening or runing the program I install SP1 patch.
Then I install the SP2 Win7 patch.
Then I run the program to se how it works - I doesn't, so I try the DirectX update but it does not fix.
I have also tried the above and running the DirectX update before running X2 but that doesn't work.

If I do it any other way running SP2 Win7 patch removed my version number and serial number from the 'about' page.

I am currently at 12.0.96.1 with Win7 patch applied.

I just cannot figure it out. I would try a fresh install of Windows 7 but it's just not worth it as I can run the program and have made some nice vids for the family but not being able to use the X2 menus or burn DVD's is a bit of a pain.
But not the end of the world.

I have Windows 7 x64 and X2 with all the updates as recommended. My version says 12.0.98.1 Pro.

I have the same problem as others, I can build out nice DVD menus and even preview the menu, however the Next button will not advance to burn/author the DVD. Nothing happens. Pretty frustrating when you just spent 2-3 hours making a nice menu system, all for nothing. I hope this gets resolved soon.

Thanks for the tip on Windows DVD Maker. Will give it a shot.

Interesting - how does the version number display?

I have X2 installed with SP1 & 2 and all I can see is:

Corel VideoStudio 12.0.98.1 Pro
and my serial number underneath.

There is a copyright scroll and a list of the programmers.
Thanks

It's VideoStudio Pro X2 Ultimate - it came in a shrink wrapped box and I've tried it with and without WinDVD9 DVD copy6 and WaveLab which come with X2 Ultimate.
It is also registered online with Corel and I have an enquiry pending with them using my serial number.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled again- just to try again! and now have my serial number and version showing.

I did this by installing and before running X2 running the patches one after another and then running X2 so my serial number shows fine now.

Just to put my mind at ease.... going back to our earlier concerns that you might have been the victim of being an innocent purchaser of either a used or SE version (OK it was shrink wrapped - anyone doing a scam big style would get a shrink wrap machine) did you mean there was a problem with your serial number?

When you say you uninstalled / reinstalled.
HOW did you UNINSTALL - was it via the Windows Control Panel?
If so then try this other method
How to manually remove VideoStudio X2

I have to say that I haven't burned an actual disc with VS in years. Not because of any problems, but because I am usually burning multiple discs, sometimes at different times, so it's easier for me to burn to DVD folders then burn the discs with a third party app. I happen to use Nero too. Never have problems.
