Relink message

Post by Ted. »

Hi, All,

My VS Pro X2 is searching for an Audio file which I can't find and don't want anyway. Is it possible to stop its "Relink" message from displaying every time I load the Project File? I know I can uncheck the "Relink Checking Box", but is there another way?

The 'relink' popup box should have a 'Cancel' button. That doesn't cancel your attempt to load the project, just that particular file, and it shouldn't ever ask you again about it.

Hi there, jbarchuk,

Thank you for your suggestion, but unfortunately I had tried that a few times and I still get the Relink Popup box coming up whenever I load the Project file.

How about the delete button? This should delete the thumbnail from the library, then VS will stop trying to relink..

Reason I suggested that is because it happens frequently enough to me for various reasons. I delete files, rename files, move them around, and VS has a fit every time. The feature does have value - at least it doesn't simply throw them away just because something 'changed.'

How about this! Create a dummy/throwaway audio file of the correct name. (For example copy any audio file to the name it wants so badly.) Then let it relink, delete it from the project, and delete the file. This is just to make relink 'happy' and stop bothering you. :) Might be something in the VSP that is slightly corrupted/confused that won't let it 'forget' the file.

Have a :) day!

Hi, Ron P.
Thank you for your reply also.

Unfortunately the Thumbnail and the file have gone. I have no "Delete" button on my Dialog Box only Relink, Skip and Cancel.

Hello again, jbarchuk,

Yes, I had thought of that, but I can't remember the exact name I gave the file. I'll have to try and fathom it out from text in the Dialog Box.
