Fade in/fade out titles

Post by grant9954 »

Hi all

Am i missing something? I put a water-mark on my videos from beginning to end. In VS8 there was fade in/fade out buttons for the beginning and end. maybe I was up too late last night but I can't seem to find them on VS9. They must still have them. Anybody know where? I being prepared too feel like an idiot.

Thanks

Grant

The fade in / fade out apply to the audio, and they still exist as small buttons. If you want to fade in from / to black or another color, insert a solid color patch from the Colors section of the library, and then add a crossfade transition.

If you wish to fade in / out your titles, you'll have to do something a bit different: create your title as needed, then drag it to the library, and drag it back into the project immediately before or after the existing title -- this makes a copy. Change the title duration to the duration during which you want it to fade. Click on the Animation tab, and select a Fade animation, then choose the fade in or fade out animation from the presets.

Thanks THoff

I told you i was prepared to feel like an idiot . That was the audio buttons I was thinking of. Just a bit of a brain freeze. I'm back to normal now.

PS: Speaking of durations. We set the durations for transitions in the prefrences, is there any way to have different durations for different transitions?

You can fade titles without so many steps. The eye perceives it as a fade, at least.

If you have crossfade transition on both sides of your title clip, and drag the ends of the title to match the ends of the "color" background, the color will fade and the title will appear to fade as the crossfade occurs. It doesn't blink out suddenly.

Yes, each title can have a different duration. I frequently use a static title with a three-second duration, followed by a copy of the same title that fades out over two seconds. Looks great, and to me at least, it is very different from a single five-second title.

There are additional options available for title animation.

From the Animation Tab, Click the two ‘TT’s adjacent to the Type Box
