Issue #1-preview folder
When I select:
Files/Preferences/Preview a strange error is reported with or without trying to make any changes to the preview file location:
¡§Exceeds the hard drive limit (1..-2097152)¡¨
This error is reported even without any changes to the default preview file location (leaving box #1 checked)
I am trying to redirect the preview files location to another drive (other than the drive that the program is located on) that I installed just for preview files. My past experience with Premiere was greatly improved by doing so and I assume this will help improve on ¡¥jerky motion¡¦ on edit/playback.
Issue #2-High Quality Playback
In preferences I have selected ¡§High Quality Playback¡¨
When the first clip is inserted to the time line; it plays back ok
When a second clip is inserted, an error message reports:
¡§High quality playback mode is disabled with current project settings¡¨
Clips are 1080p mpeg4

Welcome to the forums,
The first issue is one that I have not heard of until now. How much free space is left on the drive where VS is installed?
The second issue is normal. For some reason VS will not allow High-Quality playback for NTSC or PAL DVD settings. You can change it to MPEG-2 and be able to use it. I think the hi-def formats are prohibited from High-Quality playback as well.

Thanks Ron for the answer re the HQ playback.
Re the Preview Folders
There is 206GB free in the 300GB stripped C drive.
I have considered reinstalling the VS prog on the video data drive, but that would not solve it as it would still try to put the preview files in the Documents & Setting folder.
Perhaps a reistall?
