Foks....I just got a file from a friend which looks "too skinny" when I preview it on a draft DVD burn. I'm wondering if he didn't make a mistake when capturing it??
Anyway, is there a way to convert it to wide screen and use the full screen, ie not end up with a black band above and below the video?
Thanks and Happy New Year.....RDK
Convert from 4:3 to 16:9 after capture??

Hi RDK
Basically you zoom in to the video frame.
View my guide:-

although written for VS 10 in mind is still relevant for later versions.

Trevor....Thanks again for the hints. I used them yesterday to resize/reshape the video clip. Perhaps I'm now too sensitive or something, but they still look too skinny. As you recommended I selected "Fit to screen" and "keep aspect ratio" but now wonder if you select "Keep Aspect Ratio" does that not force it to keep the original 4:3 proportions?? Of course, if you don't use that option, they look too fat!
When you select "Distort" the preview screen has a smaller framed area inside of the 16:9 window. What is that area supposed to represent?
Finally, how do you "undo" these distortion changes and get back to the original project in 4:3 format? I tried to just uncheck the "distort" box and yes that turns it off, but if you re-check it you are back to the changed format.
Thanks and Happy New Year.....RDK

4:3 to 16:9
Hi RDK
Have you changed the project properties to 16:9
Make sure Non Square Pixel Rendering is selected from Project Properties
What are the properties of your video file. ?????
Do a test using the countdown V18 sample, this has a nice circle used to view the aspect easily.
To undo the affect from the top timeline, simply uncheck the ¡¥Distort¡¦ button.
Then change the project properties back to 4:3.
I will be away from the pc for a few days and will not be able to reply.
