Can't play Blu-ray folders

Post by msfox99 »

I have WinDVD Pro 2010. I am trying to play a Blu-ray folders from my hard drive, and I get the message, "Media Not Supported." The folders were created using the Blu-ray module of Corel Videostudio Pro X2.

The Blu-ray folder has the correct BDMV, etc. folders present.

Everything else seems to work fine, including playing commercial Blu-ray discs.

Thanks for any help.

You can't full stop.

The ability to play from hdd was taken away sometime ago for blu ray media, though you still can with DVD.

If you want to play a BD from you hard drive you will probably need to create an image of the files, and then "mount" the image (create a virtual optical disc drive).

I use IMGBURN to create images, and Virtual CloneDrive to mount them. Both of these are free.

Thanks for the replies. Making an iso is a good idea, I am familiar with Imgburn and VirtualCloneDrive. Too bad that VS Pro doesn't allow me to make images directly when creating BD files.

You don't have to burn an image.
Go for the ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 3. It plays BDMV folder and plays all HDTV content with charm and easiness.

(I wonder if the guys from Corel WinDVD team are already fired up, as I have advised. Assuming the last Service Pack 2 - they are NOT  )

Watch for a new (2010) upcoming version of PawerDVD and the new decisive Motion interpolation algorithm. ( TruTheater Motion ) It will be a funeral of WINDVD PRO 2010.

Are you sure you have the Pro version.
Pro plays Blue Ray
Standard does not though it will play AVCHD.

WinDVD Pro will not Play Blu-ray files from the hard drive.

There is a special version of WinDVD that you can get that will allow you to play BD movies from folder but you but its not available to the public, it is called WinDVD BD Reference Player. You can find more information from this link: http://apps.corel.com/lp/windvd/00926/index.html
