Failed to build a preview graph

Hi VS Friends,

I bought a new computer Intel i5 proc, 4GB memory, 500GBdrive, Windows7 as my old system gets slow and I will use this system solely for vidseo editing.
I have loaded VS10 as I was not able to load VS12 (proX2) as during preparing to install, nothing happened, maybe my backup disc has a failure. I have asked for a new download from Corel.

Now I am trying to caputure data in AVI format from my Sharp VL-Z5 .
VS detects the camera Sharp-MSDV but I get the message : failed to build a preview graph.

Any suggestions.

On my old system everything runs smoothly?

Do you have VS set to run in compatibility mode as Vista or XP? Did you install the Vista patch for VS 10?

I had that same error message recently with one of my versions of VS. I think it took doing a repair install or complete re-install to correct it.

Hi Guys,

an update/
I received the download link from Corel and tried to install VS X2pro, however the same problem occurred: preparing to install phase and than nothing happened afterwards.
So it had to do with my system and not with my backup disc.
I disabled my virus program Panda and than the installation went smoothly. Also I am able to capture video data which was not possible with VS 10 on a Windows7 Home Premium system as I have now.

Just to let you know if others might have simalar problems,
