PhotoImpact X3 won't Launch

Post by bgrimsley »

Program worked fine when first installed. Today when I click on Icon you get the hour glass for maybe 5 seconds and nothing else happens. iedit.exe does show up in the task manager for a minute or so then disappears. I uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. I saw the note on the resulution mine has alway been running at 1152/864 I also tried 1064x768. Anyone have a fix for this

Try going to Start then All Programs then scroll to PhotoImpact X3 then in the extended window double click on PhotoImpact X3 and see if that open the program. If it does delete the Icon on your desktop, go the same route as above but when you get to the final PhotoImpact X3 right click and choose Create Shortcut and drag this shortcut to the Desktop for future use.

When you un-installe the program did you do a cmplete un-install including deleting the registry entries?

PhotoImpact won't launch

Post by bgrimsley »

I used regedit and remove all items that mentioned photoimpact, I thought that would fix it fo sure but it didn't.

The only thing I can think of as for some reason it thinks the screen reselution is wrong. I was trying to get a website to display correctly and changed the resulution 800 x 600. I changed it right back. This was about a week ago but I didn't try to use Photoimpact until this week so don't know if relateded to problem

Is their something in the registry that may not set correctly?

How about doing a system restore back to a date when PhotoImpact worked OK?

Post by bgrimsley »

I tried that yesterday. I was able to restore back a few days but when I tried to restore back 2 weeks I got a can't restore error. I tried again today and it will only let me go back to yesterday

Well I'm stumped! Last ditch effort try using the Search facility to make sure all trces of Photoimpact are removed from your C: drive then go to regedit and Hit Edit then Find and see if that can find any tail enders of PhotoImpact. After that I can't think what else to do. Theorectically if all traces of PhotoImpact are removed from your system then it suggests a corrupt file on your install disc. You could try installing from a download on the Corel Site then using your licence number that you have.

Try excluding from D.E.P. (Data Execution Prevention). Instructions can be found here--->http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?p=167635#167635

I'll put that one in my memory bank, Ron. That is completely new to me. You learn something new every day 8) (well I do anyway!)
