Unspecified Error when burning DVD files at 99% complete

Post by Splash »

Hi... having an issue with an unspecified error (5.0.0) when burning DVD to file.

I've created the project as a single Mpeg-2 file as suggested...then added chapters and a DVD menu etc. When i burn it gets to 99% then as it's finishing... Boom... Unspecified Error.

Driving me nuts... trying to get a DVD of the kids completes for the old dears for Chirstmas!! Any ideas?

24 Bit 720x 576 , 25fps
DVD-PAL 4:3
Variable 4000kbps
Audio 224kbps

Theres an audio file and couple of JPEGS on the menus if that makes and difference?

No nothing there Ken... I do about 1 of these a year and just bought X2. I usually create the DVD "Folders" on the harddrive and burn the DVD discs direct from there.... so all i'm creating at the time of rendering is a DVD "folder" on the Hdrive.... but to be honest its not getting that far! 99% and pooof! Very annoying!

Splash, first welcome to the forums..

What sort of menus are you using, SmartScene, Thumbnail, or Text? Also are you using Menu Transitions? It's located at the bottom of the Edit tab. This has been known in the past to cause difficulties when used. Try using none and see if you have better success.

And, are you sure the burn isn't being completed? I have read here before of people have the "99% crash" but then discovered that the project did, indeed, burn successfully.

Yes first thing I checked was the folder... it was emtpy.. had 2 or 3 attempts and on the 4th attempt just tried burning an iso only... that worked for some reason so problem solved.

Was thumbnail with transisions for info... thanks for the advice and welcome... have been snooping for a few years now. :)

The menu transitions have shown to be a problem from time to time...

Hi guys,

I use VS X2 Pro and had the same problem: Under the burning module during creating DVD disc I encountered "Unspecified Error 5.0.0. Burn Flow report looks as follows:

Burn Flow Report, Date Sunday, January 29, 2012, 18:20:22

Start do output action : Pre-check action
AP project GUID : 4d0b009f-c445-4ba7-9f2a-99936e3dacea
Core project space : 382730240 byte
Media check ok
DiscLayout clone ok
Project total segment count : 6613712
Project total titla count : 1, Pass title space check : 1
Project total menu page count : 2
DVD Spec. limit check ok
Total title convert step count : 1
Total menu convert step count : 1
Total burn step count : 1
Total step count : 3
Start burn folw action

output file failed, Error : 0
disc compile fail

I applied menu transition indeed in the project, but otherwise nothing special. The interest thing is that when I saved my project in UVS 11+ with tha same menu structure including transition, there was no problem, burning was successful.

Is there any idea what can be wrong?
