3D effect in titles

Post by terry dennis »

I seen to recall some time ago , instructions as to how to create a 3D effect in titling.
I have used the search facility but it doesn't generate any results which includes "3D"

I have used various 'Border' and 'Shadow' combinations on the text but nothing that gives anything impressive.

Can anyone help ?

Maybe someone will know how to do it with VS -- I don't. To achieve the sort of effect I think you are talking about, I use third party software -- Xara 3D or Bluff Titler. Neither are freeware. Less regularly these days I achieve great effects with the old Ulead Cool 3D Production Studio, but it is incredibly slow... You could achieve similar effects with the version of Cool 3D which used to be distributed free with earlier versions of VS, but Corel stopped doing that when Vista came out as it was not fully compatible and they couldn't be bothered making it so. However, I did manage to get Production Studio to work in XP compatibility mode...

Of course using shadows does create a 3D "effect", i.e. extra depth, but it is not 3D.

I also use Xara3D with great success. They have loads of preset animations and effects, and it is super simple to use.
