Special effects disappear - even when saved. Pro X2
I am adding Flash Animations, Objects, Panning, Transitions, etc. I keep going along the timeline adding images, videos and effects. I save the file. I go back along the timeline to the beginning and ALL the effects have disappeared. No message appears to let me know of a problem. The images and video are all still there. But the panning, and all effects have gone. So I close without saving at this point. I re-open the file which should have all the saved effects still on it. But no - all the effects have disappeared. I have tried updating Flash Animation, DirectX.
I have uninstalled and installed numerous times.
I have searched the forum - can't see a similar problem. I emailed question to Corel - they were unable to help.
I never had this problem with version 11.5 Plus which I used for 18 months prior to upgrading to Pro X2 Ultimate. Version 11.5 is still on my computer, would this affect VS12?
The first disc I purchased for ProX2 turned out to be a Japanese version - I was then resupplied with the correct English version. I wonder if that did something to my PC.
Can anyone help me please.

Did you succeed? How did you update Flash Animation? Do you mean you updated your Flash Player? Try looking for the Utilities folder on the install disc. There will be one folder inside it called Flash Player. Open it and run the install_flash_player.exe file.I have tried updating Flash Animation, DirectX.
Did you manually download and install DirectX? There's a link to it located in a sticky at the top of this forum.
I've never came across this issue, with all the versions that I have installed on one of my PCs. I've had to re-install the flashplayer for older versions, as the newest versions use a different flash player. Having VS 11 installed should not have any affect on VS X2.
It may be possible the Japanese version could have caused some problems with your system.

Thank you Ron for the reply. Yes, I meant Flash Player. I had found a newer version on Adobe site (10.0.32.18) and had downloaded that onto my desktop. I have just re-installed it again in case it wasn't done right the first time. I manually downloaded DirectX. It must be OK as when I tried to download again, I got a message saying a version was already on PC.
Also should mention that I stupidly let the sales person talk me into buying the Adobe Premiere Elements 8, and Photoshop Elements 8. I installed these programs, and hated the look of it, I uninstalled it all and swapped my purchase for the Pro X2 which I had actually wanted in the first place. That was when I was sold the Japanese version (it was a packing error by Corel) During the two uninstall processes I may have mucked up something. I don't know how to check what files etc could be missing.
I do have a vague feeling that the problem is related to the Painting Creator. The "disappearing effects'' problem occurs sometimes after I have used the Painting Creator. Could it be a lack of memory within my project?
Sorry I am not technical about my descriptions. I appreciate any help I can get. It is such a pain to put in all the work only to have it disappear instantly.

I've found that the Flash Players installed for and by your web browser via the internet tend to break the flash player Corel uses for its flash animations. For that reason I specified reinstalling the flash player that comes with VS. I've had to do this just recently when the internet updated my flash player. Stupidly I clicked ok to install it. However immediately afterwards I launched VS and found that the flash animations were broke, so I again reinstalled it from my installation files for VS, problem corrected.
I'm not sure if Painting Creator may be part of your problem, as I don't know what sort of coding/script language is being used for the animations. It could be javascript, flash action script, or using quicktime, or yet some other.
With a new project try adding a few images or short video clips, and then using the Painting Creator the same as you have been, see if you get the same results. Try not using Painting Creator and see if the same thing occurs. This may help point to or eliminate it is a cause.
I don't know why Corel's programs are so sensitive to the flash player used by the web browsers, since VS installs it's own. But just be cautious when you get the prompt on the internet to update your flash player, most of the time the one in VS will be affected, and not for the better..

Thanks again Ron. OK, I will get the disc and install Flash Player from that. I will also do a couple of little test projects and see what happens. It is Christmas Eve here now, and I may not get onto this for a couple of days.
What version of Java should I have? (not that I know what that means)
thanks.

Hi
There is a link for the Direct x download at the top of this forum.
The installation is a three part process
1 / You download a file called directx_aug2009_redist.exe
2 / Running this file extracts the data. (create a new folder for this)
3 / Running the DXSETUP file installs Direct X
I have never seen that info, are you sure you are not just activating the auto update.Nerida wrote: I manually downloaded DirectX. It must be OK as when I tried to download again, I got a message saying a version was already on PC.

Thanks Trevor Andrew and Dentman8 for your valued replies.
I again installed DirectX from the VideoStudio disc to ensure it was OK, then updated via internet; and installed the older version of Flash Player from the disc too. The new project is working fine now, I used Painting Creator and the special effects have not disappeared this time - I am limiting each VSP to around 6 minutes length as I felt the disappearance of special effects occurred as my project got bigger and bigger.
I wish I had never upgraded to Pro X2, version 11.5 plus worked fine.
I guess this problem is solved now. Many thanks.
