Is Movie FActory no longer in the Corel stable??

Post by lathompson »

I had a friend ask if MF was usable on his MAC. I sent him to Corel to check and he says there's no reference to MF in the programs they are selling there. I took a look. It looks like Corel is not selling it. I don't see it advertised.

Since I'm here.... Is MF available for MACs?

No MF is not, and has not been available for the MAC platform. You can still purchase it through Corel by going to the Corel Store>Catalog and looking under the DVD Authoring and Burning. It would appear though, this is yet another former Ulead program Corel is discontinuing.

Some of us old Ulead fans, felt that when Corel acquired Intervideo/Ulead, it was just doing so to destroy it.

I don't use a Mac, but the Mac is popular for audio/video work, so I assume there are some good DVD authoring programs for it.

Wikipedia has a list of DVD authoring applications. Your friend can download some trial programs for the Mac, and there is at least one FREE DVD authoring program for the Mac.

Thanks for that. I'm not impressed by Corel's lack of enthusiasm for MF. My friend has various programs for making DVDs. He liked the way MF worked for me and wanted to try it out for himself. That's a shame, however I have told him numerous times, if you want more choices, go with a PC. He smiled. We've had that debate many times.

Boy... this place is just falling apart isn't it!?!

MSP gone... DVDworkshop gone...... MF going...

The only things left are video studio and that gawd awful thing they call Digital studio 2010

One has to wonder if they didn't acquire ulead just for the sake of killing it! Doesn't even really make much sense in keeping these boards open any longer. That ridiculous program they unveiled in or about september (DS2010) has collected less than 100 posts in its subforum. What a dismal failure that program is!

If I was a moderator here I'd open another forum entitled "competitors programs... which ones to jump to" seeing as there really is nothing left here.

Ulead is all but dead now... and Corel has done NOTHING to replace any of it.... what a waste.

Corel has done NOTHING to replace any of it....
and that's exactly the reason why quite a lot of our members appreciate the help given by other members and particularly the know-how of "our" specialists like Steve and Ron.

I agree with the various comments about Corel and it seems that all but VideoStudio is left.

Don't know about MAC computers as I haven't used one in about 15 - 20 years, but VideoStudio is still alive and kicking and in many respects is identical to MovieFactory, plus it has a lot more. MovieFactory does DVD Authoring. VideoStudio does Video Editing AND DVD authoring.
