Trimming video clips

Post by Barry Folkes »

When I select a segment of a video clip to be deleted either by trimming handles or jog marker the selected part is shown in blue but I cannot find how to delete it. The cut symbol only shows active if the blue section is selected and only deletes part of it.

Well a belated welcome to the forums Barry,

First I'm moving this to the VideoStudio forum so that it will get noticed more.

Are you using the Multi-trim, Single Clip trim, or just in the time-line? The blue bar indicates that part you want to keep. Anything outside the blue bar is virtually trimmed away. I say virtually, because until you render your project nothing has really been removed.

To cut using the scissors, you need to slide the trim handles (triangles at either end of the blue bar) to the ends. Then place the playhead/cursor where you want to make the cut. Make sure you have your clip selected, then press the scissor icon. There is also a keyboard shortcut [CTL] + I you can use for cutting.

Please specify what version of VS you're using.
