Hi Ken

What work flow did you use?
Did you create a video file first, then from Share Create Disc Add Media, add the video file.
Or did you burn the dvd from the project

And did you try "burning" to a 'DVD Folder' (what *we* mean by a DVD Folder!! ) or ISO file instead of an actual disc. If VS refused to do that, then that might suggest there is something in the project VS does not like. If, however, it did successfully prepare a Folder or ISO, then the cause might be physically related to the burner. Have you changed your brand of DVD blanks, for instance?

And if you can successfully make a DVD Folder or ISO file, then of course you could use another program to actually burn however many DVDs you want from this project...

Personally, I almost never use VS to actually burn a DVD. I always get it to "burn" a DVD Folder so I can check it out with a software player first. They I burn that folder using Nero Burning ROM.

burning issue

Post by Ken Veal »

Yes, I did create a video file first, then from Share Create Disc Add Media, added the video file ( named "aaaa_aaaa " ) (think you can now say that we all mean by a DVD Folder) which was successful for the 1st copies burnt just before for the previous session and as I have always done with no problem.I used the same DVDs I have been using for years that have always been burnt with VS. Both sessions had the same properties apart from length and the same drive/writer was used.I could see from the disc that that the outer ring of the disc had been partially burnt but on checking the discs properties via my computerit showed a size of 3.3GB but did npt play anything on the TV
Just like to say thank you to both of you(and every one who has helped
me out in the past over the years, long may it continue) have a happy Christmas and new year! Ken

Burnt

Post by Ken Veal »

Went back to the drawing board again and started from "add video files"
this time it was smashing and fair dinkum-mission completed!Perhaps it was too much for VS to burn 6 copies so close together, what ever the reason (where do those numbers come from and who generates them)
the last 3 DVDs burnt ok the following day........................Ken

Hi Ken V

Glad to hear you were successful in eventually burning the other three DVD¡¦s.

You have a few options in burning multiple DVD¡¦s.
1/ after burning the first DVD, you leave the burner module returning to the edit/empty edit timelines.
Now save the project from File Save As, give it a name.
The next time you want to burn a DVD just open the project, Share Create Video file.
All menus will be there, you can navigate to the last window and burn a DVD.

2 / From the final Burn window Create a DVD Folder this will save the DVD in a Video_TS folder. (not to get confused with your other folders)
Using a third party program, maybe Nero you can burn a DVD. Will be quicker than option 1 as the menu structure is already created. No more rendering.

3 / If VS 11 provides the VCD DVD Disc Image Recorder, and I am not sure if it does, or you have an earlier version of VS.
From the burner module Create a Disc Image, this will create an Iso to your hard drive, use the Recorder to burn your DVD¡¦s. No rendering just burns the DVD.

Burning

Post by Ken Veal »

can you confirm we are talking about the same thing here--
Option 2 ,is this the same as what I did -that is... Clicked save in the video save options box,it then rendered to a named_file, in the create disc
UL/VS box I clicked add video files and browsed to the named_file and opened that.
With regard to multiple copies I just select the number required and VS
obliges.About the other software beginning with N, do I not remember
posts about conflict issues some time ago with that, if used would it be best to just install the Burning ROM application and not the the complete
package.

Ken
On this screen you make sure that you have ticked "Create DVD folders"
Image
VideoStudio creates these folders you do not create them yourself.

After VideoStudio has completed creating your "DVD" you can use your favourite DVD burning software to create as many Video DVD discs as you want. There is a problem with Nero InCD which is one of the optional programs that can be installed when you first install Nero.
Either do not install InCD or if you have then you will need to disable it when burning to a disc directly from VideoStudio.

DVD Folder

Post by Ken Veal »

Thanks for that Steve,
Next question-I presume the DVD Folder then goes
into my working folder if no other is specified, after that happens what work flow do I follow to get VS to burn the DVDs.
I only considered getting Nero if my original burning problem with VS could not be sorted, as I have found a work round I see no advantage in buying it.
Just like to say thank you for all your time, trouble and patience in helping me out since I have been a forum member Season's Salutations

Ken,

In the Burn module (Share Create Disc), press the Disc Icon (Add Media, Digital Media), then in the dialog window at the bottom you'll see a button Import From Folder. This is for importing from DVD folders, called VIDEO_TS. It will open a navigation window, just go to where your DVD folder is (VIDEO_TS), select it and the OK button of the Navigation window will be activated, so Press OK. Next you should see a progress bar, where VS is parsing the VIDEO_TS folder, followed by the Import dialog window. It has a Pane on the upper left called Disc Label, that will have a tree file structure, listing Titles and Chapters. Place a check in the boxes to the left of the titles and chapters you want to import, and VS will import them.

You will then need to rebuild your menus, as the Burn Module does not preserve or import any menus that you previously built before creating your DVD Folders. It takes a DVD Authoring program, like DVD MovieFactory to be able to directly burn the folders. Re-importing (which parses the video clips from the VOB , IFO, BUP files), menus are stored in one of those files. Nero does have the ability to burn your DVDs from the Folders, and not require you to rebuild the menus.

Hi Ken V

I assume the way you do it, you first have to make the menu, then select the number of copies and burn.
Nothing wrong with that. And if by next week you want three more, you repeat the above.

The options I gave were to create another DVD without having to create the menu structure again.
Effectively copying a DVD to DVD.

As you don¡¦t have Nero the Video_TS folder option is a no go, as VS doesn¡¦t reproduce the menu¡¦s when burning TS folders.

The ISO (disc image) option is always available.
Provided VS 11 installs the VCD DVD Disc Image Recorder.
Can anyone confirm this?

Yes VS 11.5+ does come with the Disc Image Recorder. I think you need to manually install it, if you did not elect to do so from the Autorun installer. If not, then you would have had to unpack the downloaded file, or you need to explore the install disc, and look for the Content Folder. In that folder there are several, one being Ulead Disc Image Recorder. Open it and run the Setup.exe file. That will install it.

Once it's installed you should have an option located in the Start menu> All Programs>Ulead VideoStudio 11.

Hi Steve

Not to confuse things , but I think Ken V uses an old empty Video_TS folder to hold/save his rendered Mpegs.

I¡¦m not sure if VS11 re-names the TS folder each time it is created or whether the older folder is overwritten.
Some versions of VS simply overwrite the previous folder.

Ken, I edited this post, placing the correct BBCode/Tags around your link. All you need to do is enclose your link in the tags for images. It looks like this:
