Introduction and a question

Post by bernardg »

Hi there. I'm Bernard Gibbons from Danville, California. I'm a real estate agent although I have a somewhat "techie" background. I am a Brit and originally a programmer in England, back in the days before PCs although I've always kept my hand in - first Visual Basic, then HTML etc.

I've been a Paint Shop Pro user since version 2.0 - Now I'm on the latest version. This is just amazing value - it appears to do everything that Photoshop does for a fraction of the price. Recently I got a copy of Corel Draw X4 to get some insight into Vector grapghics etc.

Now the question...

How come there are so few books or videos available on learning and/or using Corel Draw? The same applies to Paint Shop Pro although there are at least some available. Now if these were Adobe products we would be overwhelmed with opportunities. Any thoughts on this?

It all comes down to supply and demand. Adobe products, party because of their marketing strategy, generally sell well. Corel, on the other hand, doesn't have much of a marketing strategy and, thus, don't sell as much product.

So, say Adobe sells 500,000 units and Corel sells 10,000 units. If I am going to write a book about a particular product which one do you think I will get the most interest from?

Looks like Corel could use a new Marketing Director!

There are some really good materials for CorelDraw, just need to look in the right places. Jeff Harrison, Foster Coburn, to name a couple. Try looking at http://www.unleash.com/, or http://www.clicknlearn.com/, and finally http://www.advancedartist.com/coreldrawtutorial.html.

Have you tried Googling "coreldraw tutorials" and see what comes up? Corel also has a Coreldraw community web forum, where Jeff Harrsion, and Foster Coburn hang out..http://coreldraw.com/
