I am new to MovieFactory. I just installed the MovieFactory6 Plus boxed version that I purchased from the online Corel Store.
I didn't get any error messages during the install, so I assume I don't need to install any of the patches or the Hotfix.
My biggest issue is LIGHTSCRIBE! I was disappointed that there was a custom installation option to only install the components desired. An example is LIGHTSCRIBE and the BD Disc Recorder. I don't have a BD optical drive and do NOT plan to get one.
Also, in the past, I always used the software for Lightscribe from the website www.lightscribe.com which is FREE and has a diagnostic utility and templates for creating labels for Lightscribe. Plus, since it's installed separately, it's easier to maintain.
Is it possible to uninstall the Lightscribe version that is included in MF6 Plus??
If Ulead is not going to let the user opt out, at least Ulead could provide ADEQUATE resources to the user. I searched the Knowledge Base for ALL products-the only answer applied to MF7, doing a clean uninstall.
According to Lightscribe's website, I should be able to install the latest version, which would update the existing software. My preference would be, uninstall the version bundled with MF6 Plus.
Thanks in advance

What brand of discs were you using? I just picked up a new burner, and some discs. They were out of Verbatim, and only had Memorex Lightscribe discs.Coral wrote:A word about Lightscribe. I have stopped usind Lightsctibe for the reason that the printing fades after a few months. It happened to me on almost each disk. Some faded faster then others
This will be my first venture into using Lightscribe, and am working on a project, and I want the disc to look professional, it's a gift. If it fades then I'm thinking it may not be worth the effort.
I talked to a tech about Labelflash vs Lightscribe. They did not stock Labelflash discs and said they are very hard to find, so recommended using Lightscribe..
I will not use paper labels on a disc. I just will not risk having it come loose and destroy a player.

Never mind the corispondence just have a look at the pictures. There are varios opinions why this happens.
They say that you should not store Lightscribe media in PVC covers. I haven't but they faded just the same. Even in compleat darkness

Well that's nice to hear NOT...
Oh well at least I know I've only wasted $25 on DVDs. I guess I'll just go with what I've been doing in the past. No labels on the discs, just case inserts..
Thank you for bringing that to our attention, so others will be made aware of this..
Merry Christmas!!!

I disagree.
From a DVD made early 2006

No fading. Nothing has happened in almost four years.
I was rather impressed that there has been no change.
Stored in a vinyl sleeve in an open 5x5in DVD case.
However, I no longer use LightScribe.
Last year, my wife gave me an HP Photosmart C 5280 which prints
on to printable CD/DVDs. Much better (and much faster...)

I went ahead and updated to the current version from the lightscribe website. I also installed the diagnostic utility which comes in handy to troubleshoot problems.
I reinstalled SureThing Labeler and happy to report that I can burn LightScribe labels again. I gave up on trying to use MF6 Plus built-in label application.
Also, I've been using LightScribe for three years and have not noticed any labels fading. I have three LightScribe DVD burners and have noticed that the quality is different for each burner, but all are acceptable.
It’s been lovely, but I have to go scream now…

To all those that are happy with the results: Good luck to you !!
The question of Lightscribe lables fading is quite common even Verbatim admit it. For some reasons (probably also including the climate heat factor) mine have degraded in a few months
