"Next" button not working in preview screen
Just updated to VS Pro X2 from 11. After completing my video project and set to burn to DVD I'm unable to get past the preview screen to the burn screen. Clicking/pressing the "next" key does not move me to the burn disc screen. I saw something here in the forums but it appears to be related to Windows 7. I'm using Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I had that problem a while back. Updating DirectX did not solve it. A re-install of VS did.

Heard back from Corel also. . .
Thanks to each of you who replied. Corel also recommended the DirectX update, unfortunately, this did not correct the problem. I've written back to them this evening for another possible solution. In the meantime, I will try a re-install as Jeff used to make the correction.

Reinstall worked!
Reinstalled Pro X2 and. . .it worked! Thanks Jeff and to Ken and Trevor as well for your quick responses.
Perhaps another question now. I tried to burn a small project on a DVD-RW disc and it failed to burn. What's up with that?

I'm afraid with the information provided, I have to say "who knows???" We have no idea what was in the project, what editing was done, what its properties were... We always need this sort of information before we can offer any sensible advice...
One obvious thing, though, is that you say you tried to burn a "small project".... We always recommend against burning a project file. Instead, after you have done your editing, first go to Share > Create Video File > DVD. This will produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2. I suspect that, instead, you have done your editing and jumped straight to Share > Create Disc > DVD, which seems to create problems for an enormous number of users -- even though it works quite well for others.
Note also that after you produce your new mpeg-2, you go to File > New Project. Don't worry about giving your new project a name. The objective is just to clear the timeline of your current project.
Once that is done, you select Share > Create Disc > DVD. The burning module will open. Use the Add Media button at the top to insert your new mpeg-2 in the burning timeline. Then go to the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. There is a little box beside the words 'Do not convert compliant mpeg files'. Make sure that box is ticked (it usually is by default). That way, your already compliant mpeg file will not be re-encoded. Then build your menus and burn.

Thanks Ken
Ken, your response looks like good advice and I will certainly use it. You were 100% correct, I went directly to burning the disc. Like many, I'm still new to VS overall and probably using only a very small percentage of its features. I will need to stay close to the forum to gain better knowledge of VS that will allow me to use the software in the most efficient manner possible. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
Thank,
Rick

reinstallation issue
Been running VS Pro X2 SP1 since October 2009. Was trying to author a DVD today and noticed the menu preview stuff wasn't working. Read the forum and found I should update to the latest Direct X9 driver files. I was at 9.0c already but did the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from 09/16/2009. Menu previews now work. Then I got stuck at the Next button when trying to get to the burn page (this thread's topic). Un-installed VS12 and reinstalled using my same install file from back in October. Buzzed on through to the Burn menu and made my DVD.
Tried to install the SP1 patch and got an error message saying the installer can't find an installation of VS12 on my computer. What? Checked the help about button in VS12. It just says Corel Video Studio 12 not Video Studio 12.0.98.0 Pro and my serial number like it used to. I typed in my serial number during the installation process so what's going on now?
I've uninstalled, cleaned the registry, re-installed. Same thing. Any ideas?

Damnome, I saw your other post. Seems your problems are slightly different in that you have W7 and DX11. On my XP Pro, DX9c setup I can get past the Next button and burn discs but can't update to SP1 because of the serial number issue.
I've been using (debugging) VS since version 9. I'm just about done with Ulead and now Corel. I waste more time trying to make their stuff work than actually making it do something useful for me. I would have abandoned it long ago if it wasn't for this forum which has been very helpful.
Try this software. http://www.avs4you.com/ DVD authoring works just fine.

Re: reinstallation issue
FWIW, I noticed that other menu items in the help menu (?) don't function at all. Both "Online Registration" and "Product Updates on the Web" don't do anything when they should be opening your web browser.markl951 wrote:...Tried to install the SP1 patch and got an error message saying the installer can't find an installation of VS12 on my computer. I'm running version 9.0.124.0 of the Adobe Flash Player & that's the version supplied with the VS X2 installation files.
When I updated DirectX 9.0c I used the End User Runtime Web Installer (because it was newer) instead of the redistributable version and now I can't go back even though I had set a restore point before the update.
I ran dxdiag.exe and saved the information to a text file. Comparing that to a listing from my other XP Pro computer shows that they are both running DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) but some of the files listed in the DirectX Components section are different.
Still not sure if this isn't a VS12/Corel problem. Some games that rely on DirectX 3D work just fine after the DirectX update.
