Image quality counts for everything

Post by lakewud »

Howdy all

A quickie for those in the know.

Prey tell..I am wanting to create a dvd cover..done this many a time..but memory falls a little short...I have photos i want to use for this dvd cover.

Now, i remember in the past - strangely - that images taken by my 10pixal camera actually came out - when printed - worse than images i had taken from my camcorder once ive saved them/edited them in VS ( using the create still image option ).

Once transporting these camcorder shots into PI12...they were actually much better quality than an image id loaded from my 10megapixal camera. Why is this??

...Ok, seem to remember keeping those images taken from my camcorder videostudio project to a smallish size when printed but even so..still curious to know best settings for photos when wanting to add several to a dvd cover because obviously im doing something wrong somewhere when bringing in photos into PI.

Any thoughts welcome. Basically, what setting need i make sure PI12 is set to to ensure my photos will at least look the very sharpest they can when i go to print my dvd cover.

Finally, feathering..on PI..theres a drop down menu to do this...just want to know..tricks of the trade so to speak. I want to cut out an image, using Object extract etc...and then i want the edges of this object slightly blurred...and then placed onto a blank document/template which will become my dvd cover.

Again, thoughts more than welcome.

cheers.

i used to use photo impact way back 2003, i really like the quality but my problem is the ease of use.
